another game at nationwide arena. everybody keeps asking me if they can fuck the cannon. buddy, they don't even let me fuck it

If they give Clarkson a job, they need to offer one to Vinny Prospal. I still don't like that JD & Jarmo heel turn.

Did someone say "heel turn"?

I don't think that was even the only wtf play from Sbisa last night. He also stood right next to Malkin and ineffectually whacked at him on the first goal.

If you were really sorry you'd get the Pens to trade for him.

Wasn't the Horton/Clarkson move basically entirely a budget thing for the Jackets?

Their situation was that an expensive bad player is still better than paying a guy who can't play. They could probably afford Horton but it didn't make sense with a much tighter budget than Toronto has.

But then Clarkson got hurt too, but I guess he's insured so it's not as bad for them.

Yeah, I'm not really getting how he's "part of the organization"?

Will Arizona reward Pavel for his loyal service to the club when his contract is up?

E: or, right, I forgot he actually played a couple games with the jackets. 4 points in 26 games, lol.

We need somebody on D in case of injury. We've been too lucky so far. I like the trade but I know nothing of the player other than he's an aging veteran.

He's going straight to Hershey, they need some D, had a few injuries.

Kings retain 20% salary, if Caps win two or more playoff rounds during the 2017 playoffs and Gilbert plays in 50% or more of Caps' total playoff games then Caps will send 5th round pick in 2017 entry draft to LA. If not met, Kings get nothing.

Caps need a depth right-handed D in case of injury. They only have Carlson and Niskanen right now.

I personally enjoyed this nugget. I imagine LA probably said "if you get to the Stanley Cup Final then give us a 5th rounder" and Washington replied "gently caress, if we just get past the second round we'll give it to you".

Yup, he put his dad on there and the NHL later had it X'd out. That's how you can tell if you have the presentation/real cup or the display cup

I thought that said Tom Wilson to LA at first and was going to joke if that was their difference-maker for the playoffs.

He's on LTIR, which freed up cap space, and is also expected to waive his NMC for the expansion draft, which would allow the CBJ to protect an extra player.

Aphrodite

Horton was on LTIR too, the key for them is the insurance so they're not on the hook for as much.

Vermette got the 10 game automatic suspension. The Ducks could theoretically appeal but it probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Also Don Henderson, the linesman that Wideman decked, hasn't worked since that game and may be forced to retire.

We had this what-if with wideman but they could also increase vermette's suspension, and it might be easier to prove intent when he's not concussed, looking right at the ref, and there was nothing going on around him

e: specifically, 20 games is abuse of an official with intent

grack

Yeah, Vermette's suspension could absolutely be increased if he appealed. Refs/linesmen probably wouldn't be likely to give the Ducks any breaks, either.

Should be 20 games. At least Wideman had some kind of quasi explanation in the sense you can see it being worth a defense. Vermette has no excuse of any type.

I really don't think so. Intent not results is what should matter and the NHL needs to stop scaling punishments on injury severity.

Aphrodite

The NHL doesn't consider a slash like that intent to injure.

He was considered by some to be the top D prospect in the Flyers system before we drafted Provorov. He could wind up being a top pairing guy someday, but he's definitely a longer-term project.
