I'm Canadian, we already use metric like the rest of the world, but like most other countries only switched in the 70s meaning it makes sense to have a good understanding of both systems.

Yep. Domestics.

The Challenger has the smaller 5.7, but it's no slouch, and has some pretty drat good pickup. 83,000 (precisely) mostly-highway miles. Still has the partition between the front and back seats, so my dates can't get away.

The Impalas have a fairly thirsty 3.9, and have a very slight hesitation before you start moving, but they can almost keep up with my Turbo 4 when you give them gas. 100, and 120k, accordingly. One is throwing the ABS light so the cruise couldn't be used getting it home, but it's probably just the sensor- trying to rain now, so I haven't bothered digging any farther into it, yet.

I can't pass up a driving shitbox for under a grand that just needs a little work, now can I? The black decals are still stuck, but they removed all of the livery- You wouldn't want to get caught driving a car and pretending to be a cop- especially in a military town based around weapon storage with a population of a few thousand.

I didn't really expect to end up with any of them, but the price was right. I hate the stupid "Auto-Stick" in the Dodge, which is kind of like a cross between a pull handle and a soft serve ice cream vending machine handle, and for a V8, it sounds a little anemic. Still, it's no slouch. Had plenty of people driving like assholes on the highway fall the gently caress in line when they spotted it. :D

The Impalas aren't bad, either- just thirsty, and GM ugly. Think they used about 3/5ths tank for 200 miles, but then again neither driver was any slower than myself. Sadly, the pushbars were already removed from them.

How much did you pay for those? Seriously <$1,000 each?

Yes, using metric/SI units is generally the better idea, but you should be able to work in both. Being ignorant of imperial units is just that - being ignorant. Not knowing poo poo is rarely something to take pride in.

Sometimes imperial is better, such as when it ties in with what you have already - I constantly encounter imperial components (UNF thread, dimensions all logical numbers in inches) which people have insisted on drawing with metric notation, and it's loving irritating.
If you have a .2500-28 UNJF-3A bolt and your drawing tells me the shank is 6,35 and it's 19,05 long, yeah, you're Doing It Wrong.

Just gave beetle an emergency enema, on advice from the vet, because I'm 99% certain he vomited poop.

Even if he has a blockage, and that is magically cured by the enema, it's been 4 days and I'm advised he most likely has fatty liver syndrome, and will most likely then die anyway. I'm going to keep trying, but I don't want suffering to be prolonged. If he starts having seizures, that's it.

I'm probably going to have to loving euthanize my cat, on most likely the same day I leave my fiancee. I have benadryl prep, argon, a gun (unfortunately I know how and where to do it if it comes to that, from experience), and possibly the vet if it comes on slowly. The vet says she understands, whichever way it goes. They're all viable, and it would be minimum stress whichever way.

I hope he recovers. I'm gonna keep trying.

And where exactly would I need to know it? There isnt a single bolt I use that is Imperial, not a single piece of equipment, no tool absolutly and completely nothing. I dont weigh anything in Imperial, I dont do distance in Imperial, I dont temperature in Imperial - that's either Celsius or Kelvin, I dont work in any scientific unit in anything other than metric, I dont torque bolts in anything other than metric..... my clothes are also in metric.

My grandmother's cat had fatty liver syndrome, one of it's causes is starvation which sounds likely if your cat hasn't been eating in a long time. It's treatable if you tackle it straight away, but you'll need to go to a vet, home remedies probably won't cut it

Good luck to you and Beetle!

We're gradually moving to liters/100km as well. It scales better than km/l, because people are generally more interested in how much fuel they use over a known distance, rather than how far they can go on a set amount of fuel.
