So apparently according to Friedman the pens may be in on duchene or landeskog and may send maatta back? I'm not sure how I feel about adding that kind of cap hit, but with how hurt our forwards are i can see why jr may be kicking tires. I also wonder about shattenkirk too, but I dunno if the pens would target him.

To be honest I can see the pens having a slow deadline, they kept everyone from last year and don't really have cap space.

E: and lol if you don't think that JR won't buy out MAF if it comes down to it

They really will be Team Top Six Forward.

We have an expansion thread. There was some minor speculation earlier last year about who might get taken and what not, but there will be more as teams get mathematically eliminated from playoff contention/the playoffs themselves.

Great av, and I have a feeling unless we trade him off unexpectedly that it will be solid for years to come.
Also how do we all feel about the poetic irony that Sid's 1000th is an assist to a Kunitz goal? I suspect they're still buds and he loves it but I know a lot of Pens fans turned rabid on the poor bastard after the Johnston era.

I dislike Kunitz being back on the top line but with Sheary out what are ya gonna do. Hopefully they don't knock Guentzel down the lineup when Sheary comes back. Kunitz actually looked alright on the fourth line and needs to be on there when we're healthy.

The scary thing is that there are legitimately good players leaving the roster in the summer.. Eaves, Sharp, Oduya, Hemsky whoever Vegas picks (probably Roussel or Johns if Nill is dumb enough)... all could potentially be gone

The bad players are all staying for sure except for loving Korpikoski - who I'm sure Nill will re-sign when the Stars strike out in free agency and trades.

And there's no answers on the horizon in free agency or the prospect system.

Colorado pretty much can't be "catched" for the last place right now, but next year I wonder if there will be any clubs worse than the Stars. It's shaping up to be an ever worse season.

I bet it's Johns which will suck because yeah, we're either leveraging the future for players that can put up minutes or we try to develop and win in the NHL with a new coach again, and that's false started how many times?

Two minute eating defensemen are needed before this ship gets back off the ground and I hope "DEVELOP DEVELOP DEVELOP" loving ends before Benn and Seguin wreck the cap by themselves. But I can't honestly say that's not where I see 17-18 ending up.

It's seriously insane, especially when you consider that there's another active player only 25-ish points behind that could have possibly done it first and made him 87th.
