if you have a budget of NaN does that mean spending more money doesn't change it?

this is a good question, our controlling systems are spread over 130 legal entities and nobody has a clear picture of where money is spent or on what - as a result i use a lot of consultants and typically people have so much trouble spending money i can usually hoover up their budget at the end of the year because they are at 10-20% of forecasted spend for the year in december

most of our systems are maintained/circumvented by an absolute army of administrative assistants

its kind of an afterthought cause the goal is to move everyone off of skype entirely and on to teams. the current teams/s4b integration is really only for people using teams in its current beta form. once teams is officially released I'm gonna wipe out skype 4 b so hard.

at my job we have three competing sso platforms with arcane rules around which ones can be used for what

ping is reliable but "legacy" and not allowed to have new apps
azure sso is down frequently and doesn't support basic features like deep links
the third platform is another instance of ping but it's not hooked up to the corporate directory so you have to manually add employees via a flat file attached to a service now ticket

also 2 & 3 go down on a daily basis taking most of the company platforms with them

we recently found out the reason number 3 goes down so often is that it is actually the test environment of #1 but someone decided to make it corporate policy to use that one instead of prod

also there are three identity and access management teams (five if you count our subsidiaries) and they are all in a crab battle to determine which team will continue to exist
this REALLY sounds like SAP

coordinated with one of our dbas to switch some databases to a different server. got on s4b with him, let him know i'm ready, sent an email to everyone else to tell them the server's going down in 15 minutes

15 minutes later, do the transfer. takes like five minutes. tell the dba over s4b that everything's good and he should check up on how things look. then he lets me know that i interrupted a backup, where is the old server, i need to move some files off of the old server. he laments that we never got on the telephone to discuss things. i'm gonna choke him

carry on then

I only know of one standard for authorization policy but it was doa, authorization is really a pain in the rear end and I wish someone else would fix it for me so I don't have to do it.
