And as a throwback to my PC Fallout days I didn't even notice the performance problems. Like I'm just used to that out of a Fallout or Elder Scrolls at this point, it's part and parcel for me. I guess that I shouldn't accept it but I have

Granted I would have bought it on PC for the mods anyway, but it was a gift I got so I can't exactly complain.

but i will play final fantasy 15 first then i will get titanfall 2, i played the first titanfall on my friends xbox and i enjoy the gameplay, and this seem like a stronger game in all aspects.

I get this and it's frustrating but I think the thread has mostly gotten past this. The whole "if you can't afford the pro, you shouldn't be spending money on video games anyway" thing that was getting repeated for a while is dumb because people on a lower budget should get to enjoy games too and things like the great slim deals are perfect for that.

idk how you could not notice the random single digit frame rate that could happen at times in fallout 4

that was absolutely not a thing in any of the previous bethesda games on console. maybe morrowind; I never played that on xbox

Well, I played the previous ones on PC, like I said. And it hasn't happened to me "randomly" so I can't tell you about that. I'm honestly just happy to not have FO4 crash on PS4 nearly as often as FO3, FONV and Skyrim all did for me on PC. My standards have been lowered pretty hard by that series.

Skyrim got pretty bad on PS3 if you had a late game save. It wasn't as buggy as New Vegas, which is to date the buggiest PS3 game I've ever played.

You may want to back out and make sure the addons actually got downloaded with the game. I forget the exact instructions to get there but you can see your addons in the info panel when you scroll down in the main PS4 menu.

There are good parts to 4. I liked how they changed the power armor to its own specialized equipment on top of normal clothing and there are some really fun and silly quests mixed in with the garbo. On sale, it's not a bad buy. I think you're going on with the right mindset too because you know it's not going to meet the quality of NV.

I know some people also love the base building stuff so there's that too.

The nuclear crater in the southwest is one of the coolest parts of the series too. The further in you go the less named things get then they stop even showing up on your map.

I'm one of the people who liked the base building and I'd like to play other games with a similar mechanic to it.

Did you play Skyrim on PS3 at launch? Because it was pretty awful. Skyrim PS4 even has issues specific to the PS4 Pro, and while looking "nicer" in as much an Elder Scrolls game can look with vanilla textures etc, it still suffers from framerate drops as frequently, if not moreso than the PS4 standard.

Bethesda is a poo poo-from-asses tier developer, and it always has been. There's no "extra" leeway it, or any other dev on their level gets from a PS4 Pro or Scorpio simply existing, they will be bad no matter what the platform is.

And that isn't to say that there WON'T be games where the Pro is going to be the best way to play, period. There will be devs who can take advantage of the upgrade and make a superior experience of it. Those same developers will also likely be at a place where people with a standard PS4 will not feel gimped in any way whatsoever unless they take worthless forums banter about owning a PSPoor seriously.

I got very into FO4 on my second attempt. I really liked the wasteland areas just wandering around in the power armour and fighting death claws but as soon as the story wanted you to go into cities, the game just shits itself and I couldn't stand the performance problems. Like it's very hard to shoot people at 18fps.

I think Bethesda have some very good people. The stories of some of the side quests, especially in Oblivion, are very good. The lighting in FO4 is great.

Their engine and animations are just such total poo poo

There are some mods available for Fallout 4 that remove some of the extraneous poo poo that affects performance. Seemed to work pretty well with what little I tested it. Far Harbor in particular seemed pretty well improved.

I'm one of the few people around here that will actually defend Bethesda games, but it's hard to argue that they're not kind of poo poo from a technical perspective. They even hosed up the drat pro patch. Boosted mode could have gotten the game running smooth, but instead they give us loving nonsense like improved god rays.

And also does a decent job of gating serious and humorous. You're playing this noirish story of betrayal, honor, and murder, and then in the very same game you're doing sidequests to challenge Michael Jackson to a dance-off and doing a stealth mission to buy porn for a 10 year old boy from a vending machine.

Pretty much as soon as I realized I had no real insight into what my dialogue picks were actually going to do, I stopped caring about the role and just started being a dick to everyone. Right now I've abducted that radio guy and instead of taking him to rescue the bar guy I'm dragging him all over the wasteland to fight poo poo. Though he is really bad at hiding so I'm thinking of finally letting him go.

Fallout 4 capitalizes on the strengths of 3 and in that way it's an improvement, but the things that made people like 1, 2, and New Vegas are almost completely stripped bare except for the Far Harbor DLC.

fallout 4 is mechanically a much better game that tells a much, much worse story than new vegas. I don't think anyone that hated fallout 3 but liked new vegas is gonna find much to like here, but if you like the formula behind the bethesda open world rpg then fallout 4 is one of the better ones

the writing is absolutely dire. the gameplay is also better in an iterative way, so it's very likely that you'll play it and think "this is exactly how I remember fallout 3 being" even tho that's not really true. the improvements are mostly quality of life stuff and tweaks; it's still pretty much the same experience on the whole. I'd say that it has the best world of the three in terms of content, but again the writing is god awful. the ending is almost insultingly bad. the worst part about the writing is that it actually does have a pretty decent part near the beginning when valentine is the backbone of the story. he's def the best character bethesda has ever written, for whatever that's worth. I think the biggest issue with the game, barring the frankly unacceptable performance problems, is that it feels old. this does not feel or look like a next gen game. fallout 4 feels like a game that should have come out a year after skyrim

It can't possibly be as bad as Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage which was like the ultimate insult of being too cheap to license a ton of music from the show, was slow as hell, has a small roster, and only has you fighting like three or four guys at a time. I mean I love Fist of the North Star but after playing some of it even I skipped on picking up. I heard the second one is better but never bothered.

Fallout 4 is the first Bethesda game with remotely interesting characters where I actually don't just read the text and then click past all the voice acting. it's just very hard to care about that because as mentioned, the writing and plot is quite bad, and a lot of other issues make it very hard to get invested in anything that's not the gameplay.
