The Paradox and Annorax not having temporal mechanics, or even seating, is a crime. Same thing with the Defiant and pilot maneuvers, even if intel powers are better. All three of them came out within months of the new mechanic too.

Asimo posted:The Paradox and Annorax not having temporal mechanics, or even seating, is a crime. To be fair the Paradox has a fairly amazing boff seating arrangement, and if Cryptic tried to change it they'd probably gently caress it up, like when they made the Eternal's Temporal seat also the Commander Science slot.

Also true. And really even if it lacks the temporal ship stuff for max sci assholage, it does have the extra weapon. The two temporal ship sciboats only have 3/3 and 4/2 weapons (and share the temporal seats with the commander sci...), even if both have hangar bays too.

loving shitlord publets still don't know what the gently caress to do in Tzenkethi Front somehow. Why yes, let's camp around the friendly starbase and shoot battleships in the rear end for 5 dmg a pop because they don't know how to deal with the cruisers.... and this is after the optional gets blown mind you. Goddamn

Tzenkethi BZ is getting another patch tomorrow. They're putting a 10 minute delay on enemies immediately recapturing zones so it may be worthwhile to do now.

I'm not sure it's going to beat the value for time a sixty second tholian red alert gives but it's definitely a move in the right direction. Certainly if you want the special item thingies.

Is it worth my Romulan captain picking up the 40k dil fed science ship for admiralty missions? The missions all seem pretty science heavy and I have a fleet full of tactical ships.

There's always way more science than you can ever muster. To answer your question though, try looking for some mirror ships. Mirror ha'nom has 44 science, the rest all have 20-30 and should run pretty cheap.

Yeah and grab the event ship while you can it's sci heavy and free,

I'm like 4 days away from the event science ship so I'll just hold off until then and look at the mirror ships on the exchange, though I probably don't have the EC for them yet. I also apparently need to unlock or free up a few more ship slots anyway.

All of the Romulan Mirror ships are great for Admiralty, the Hanom/Hafeh/Haapax mirror trio have Ignore Sci/Tac/Eng bonuses, respectively. They're worth picking up.

https://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/comments/5ubj66/tarantula_tank_support_dps/ Really interesting build found over at Reddit. Some of the newer engineering traits can apparently chain together to put Miracle Worker on global cooldown.

Oh hey look, a very in-depth build based around keeping important targets alive through a well-designed process who's end result is giving every friendly ship on the map incredible healing and buffs. Admirable. Too bad I can just mash a couple of tac powers on my cookie-cutter vet ship build and kill most targets in a few seconds, achieving the same net effect.

You know what would be nice? Let the captain skill that raises power levels temporarily also increase the maximum temporarily. People would probably like it, and it would be thematic.
|
# ? Feb 17, 2017 08:52 |

That would require: 1) Cryptic actually changing the captain abilities. Why bother when they can just shove poo poo that modifies them into space/ship traits? Opportunity cost, what's that? 2) Cryptic giving a gently caress about class balance. Which they clearly don't considering 50+% of the characters in the game are tacs, and the percentage rising every time they do a census. 3) Cryptic actually knowing how their game works. There's, what, five different ways buffs can interact, each with different priorities and effects? And generally no hardcap on percentage buffs? Thus leading to the staff constantly adding more buffs and boosts and not realizing the exponential effects in tac captain hands. If it hasn't been fixed by now it isn't ever going to be. Only reason I still play my engineer main is the sheer sunk cost. Well, "play", I barely even log in for admiralty or whatever now.

Maxing out every admiralty campaign and specialisation and only logging back in for content patches is the true endgame.

Honestly at the moment it's mostly leveling the new R&D skill. But I guess logging in for thirty seconds a day gets their metrics up.

Y'all should actually play more, we've got a lot of goons returning to the game right now. Sure the content is kind of a joke right now but those nerds need marks. Blow some poo poo up, help a fellow dentist.

I should pretty much uninstall this game after getting blown up several times by a single NPC ship in a level 30ish mission in my fancy T6 ship (with admittedly lovely components). My strategy of 'hit every red button you see and hammer shoot' followed by 'panic and hit blue and yellow buttons if your shields or health are low' had always worked until then.
