IW foreman standing on huge rear end I-beams that were stacked improperly. Beams shifted (I don't remember why) and one rolled over pinching his lower leg against another I-beam resulting in a compound fracture of his fibia. Probably did not feel great.

I imagine if this was at all audible under water it would have made a sort of a -SHOOMP- sound.

Where does the shark go? Is there some kind of holding tank or is it straight into the pump impellers?

PBS posted:Guessing it'd die regardless, looked pretty sudden. Yeah, probably. I had a clown loach get sucked into my aquarium cleaner tube, and even though I immediately cut the water and he looked fine when I got him out, the next morning he was dead. RIP. I guess it was just the change in water pressure or the shock or something.

That reminds me, I know we had the "smart phones have barometers in them!" chat, but don't they also have the ability to be a Geiger Counter too? Something about "if the camera is covered, any light still hitting the sensor must be radiation" ?

Alpha isn't biologically significant unless you ingest it and beta that can make it through a simple jumpsuit is going to be pretty warm so I can see making due with a CMOS as a gamma sensor. But its hardly a question because a good CMOS isn't much cheaper than a geiger counter and using your phone because its there is like checking hot surface temps by licking the back of your hand and grazing the surface in question (I do that way too often).

I think that it isn't even particularly accurate for what it can detect but it's also not like you should be trying to use a phone to detect any serious amount of radioactivity. More of a school science experiment kinda thing I think.

A few people on facebook reporting the Dam giving way, but no news is showing that, at least that I can find, is this literally breaking now or are people just seeing old spillway footage and thinking the dam is going?

Elendil004 posted:A few people on facebook reporting the Dam giving way, but no news is showing that, at least that I can find, is this literally breaking now or are people just seeing old spillway footage and thinking the dam is going? From what I've seen it's people seeing new photos of the Main spillway. It's eroded so much it's not actually letting water all the way down it now and since they cut the flow by half it's just draining out the hole in the middle. This is causing people that apparently haven't even heard anything about the dam somehow to equate that damage with a damaged dam.
