If I'm the Celtics, me too, but if I'm the Pacers I demand both and see if they wilt (and if I'm the Celtics I do it eventually. You're cashing in on hope, and if you wait until the draft when the pick turns out to be No. 2 or 3, you've lost a huge amount of leverage. I sell the unknown for the known).

Yeah. I just can't see it. I wouldn't trade Jimmy or George without both of those Nets picks.

I don't even need Jaylen Brown(they clearly don't value him much). Just give me salary fillers and the two Nets picks and I'd be content.

Top 10-12 players don't just fall off trees. Unless that tree is in Sacramento.

Per Woj, Rockets want a player in the 10-12m salary range. It's interesting that he mentions salary as the primary factor. Wonder if they are trying to do a larger trade or if it just has tax implications for the Rockets

Neither, most likely it's just that they have that amount of assets that they can dump off for the player. The Rockets are above the cap so salary needs to match.

If anything they are overvaluing Jaylen Brown because the Celtics are loving ridiculous

:smith: If we trade PG with 1 1/2 years left on his contract because Bird is unable to build around him (with 1 piece already in place), that's going to be pretty much it for me and the Pacers with this owner/regime.

I completely recognize it makes sense to move both picks for a legit superstar but I can't shake the uneasy feeling about it. It's like hoarding elixers in Final Fantasy games.

That'd be the opening offer but I don't see why Indiana and Chicago would make that trade at all right now. If they knew the Celtics would have the #1 pick that MIGHT change things but I'm not giving up Butler or George for Ball or Jackson. Also the Celtics young players don't really move the needle for me.

If you can get both Nets picks I'd be pretty excited having Myles Turner and two potential studs depending on how the lottery shakes out. I definitely understand being upset about losing a guy like George though no matter how good the return.

It makes sense to move both picks if the market dictates it, but this years Nets pick is hands down the best asset that is going to be offered for Paul George unless someone is an idiot. Ainge knows that.

There are other things Ainge can do to sweeten the deal. The Clippers pick, taking on one of the Pacers bad contracts (Al Jefferson).

This trade is interesting to me. 22 Million in cap relief, a top 4 pick on this draft and a good wing prospect.

And apparently they're gauging the trade market on him now. Motherfuck. I hate Larry Bird so much. If PG goes, I'm done with this loving dumbass team. I'll need a new team to follow. Suggestions?

you literally think a person saying their NBA team of choice being better than the fucking 76ers is a 'schtick'

a literal thing you think.

Brown has value, but he's at least a year or two away from being a starter on a decent NBA team and his current applicable skill set (athletic perimeter D) is redundant with Smart and Bradley.

Amir Johnson, Brown, the Nets 2018, the Celtics 2018, and the Memphis 2019?

I'm genuinely happy for Wizards fans and how their team has turned the season around completely but I still have a sneaking dread that an injury will derail the season in a huge way at the worst possible time. I hope I'm wrong but that kind of seems to be a hazard of being a Wizards fan

How is PGs PER so bad for a guy who does so much?

PER is a catchall efficiency stat, not a measure of player quality. The Pacers suck and George has to go beyond, which messes up his numbers. Compare his situation and PER to Durant

PG is the guy who has to take a contested shot after Monta, Stuckey, and Teague pass the ball away from their open 3.

low FG%, high turnover rate. both things that are partially the product of high usage and would improve on a team with another good scorer.

I know it isn't the determining factor in how good a player is, but at a glance it's useful for seeing how good a player is. PG hasn't risen above 20 (even when they were good) which is a little worrisome. Usually when a team is bad and a player is doing more you get insane Minny Kevin Love values out of it. I wonder if it's more of a pace thing.

you can glance at their usage % too for a more complete picture (and minutes played since PER is a rate stat so the 'leaders' are often garbage time gods like Boban)
