[Inauguration Singer Jackie Evancho Speaks Out Against Trump

This is the 16-year-old who sang. She has a transgender sister and tweeted that she was dismayed at Trump's actions. Her album sales jumped after the inauguration, Trump touted her and said people just didn't understand the movement they've created.

Never heard of her.

I wonder if SHE'S ever heard of Maria Callas, Anna Netrebko, Renee Fleming, Angela Gheorghiu, Joan Sutherland, Beverly Sills, Leontyne Price, Kathleen Battle, Jessye Norman, Kiri Te Kanawa, Yvonne Kenny or ANY female opera singer.
THEY can sing and their fame will endure.

Evancho will be the proverbial "Who???" in one week.

I think the similarities in argument come from the fact that a lot of people on the Alt-Right get their news from the same 2 or 3 sites. I noticed this a LOT around the beginning of Obama's second term when phrases like "Race Baiter/Race Hustler" were being thrown around by people I assumed were in disparate social circles. It became pretty evident that they were disparate in theory but they all read Drudge Report or something similarly biased and focal.

This for real. Gamers, or at least the insular basement dweller/body pillow crowd of gamers, are really setting themselves up to be the Freepers of that generation. Most reasonable people end up cutting them out of their social circles (due to being creepers and unemployable losers) and end up congregating with each other on the internet while complaining they can get a HB10/10 and it's everyone else's fault. Only difference with these guys is that every fourth thread on their freep replacement will be a fight over who makes the better wank pillow.

Someone listens to the Fplus.

Also, not all gamers, just the gamers that real gamers recognize as toxic and cut out of our group. It's call social policing and its a necessary element of any social group to find bad actors and exclude them. If you don't, you end up with a bunch of pedophiles and the like running around. Time to catch up with thread.

Obama installed new WH computers/internet Jan 1, 2017

The White House upgraded it's computers (along with a brand spanking new internet!) at the start of the new year. So naturally that means Obama took all the old computers (along with presumably the old internet.) and is using them in his "Sedition Headquarters" (no, really) to take down Trump.

:tinfoil:

quote:

It makes sense Obama would leave no trace of nefarious activity, but was he authorized to do take the computers for himself or his new seditious organization?

One wonders just how they rigged the new computers/systems. Do they now have a direct feed?

They also installed a new phone system April 2016.

Rick Wiles believes it will be John McCain himself that files impeachment paperwork within 30 days. After all previous attempts to take DJT down failed, impeachment is the current phase of the takedown plan. After that, it's the final "A" solution.

Deep State vs. Trump and the People. We've been witnessing them unveiling their evil at every stage, with growing concern. Please be in extra heavy prayer. Thank you.

Exactly, NO govt computer equipment should have been permitted out of the facilities!! If Obozo & co. took the old equipment, even if they “paid” for it, they are obviously trying to block all possible inquiries and forensic investigations of what went on during the past years. Team Trump had better be on top of this.

Then, ofc, there are the issues with new equipment and whether the Obozo team has installed spyware etc. Trump WH needs completely independent and trustworthy computer techs, not Obozo people. I sure hope the WH now is on top of all of this!

You beat me to it. He took all his 'evidence' with him and left a new bugged system with direct feed to the NSA, CIA and maybe FBI. Rip it out, have a snooper sweep the White House, top to bottom, every nook and cranny including the roof. Check the walls. I'm serious.

Trump had better realize today that Obama is scheming for an overthrow of our constitutionally elected government. Also, he needs his trusted people at NSA, FBI and CIA to swoop in on Obama's house and bug the hell out of it, constant surveillance, etc. We're at War folks with the Manchurian Candidate. He hasn't given up, in fact he said he is 'fired up'.

How much longer must we endure this assault on our Republic under the thin and badly misplaced guise of "freedom of the press?" It isn't meant to guarantee "freedom of the press to lie and slander," nor should it.

Methinks a time quickly comes when The People will have had too much more than their fill of this Machiavellian scatalogical experiment. Frankly put, if Trump has shown us anything, it's that the time for putting up with puerile bullsh*t is over.

These people have to be shown the error of their ways, and the trend away from the historical broadcast and print news 'bastions' and toward independent internet sources will be their death knell. They will continue to limp along propped up by losers like Soros and Bezos for as long as they can stand being irrelevant, ignored, loathed, and abused by Trump's Bully "Pulp'em" Pulpit.

Then they'll either be forced to play nice, or just fade into hard-earned obscurity.

There, I've convinced myself. I am really getting used to all the winning!

I don’t trust a thing on the Yahoo home page, they’ve been slamming Trump since the beginning. I was also upset to see this lying story on the Daily Mail site. This is despicable that the b.s. news media is resorting to questions of Trump’s health and commitment to serve. Bind their hands, Lord, bind their hands. People were thrilled at church that Melania said the Lord’s Prayer at the Melbourne rally so this campaign is about bringing down an administration that supports people of faith and the fact that people of faith in large numbers support Trump and his policies.

Anonymous Trump advisor makes it sound like this person has access to Trump. First, it’s probably a lie that is completely made up, to include this anonymous person. Next, a person 20 levels removed in the bureaucracy could call himself an advisor.

Well, maybe but in may ways Trump reminds me of Harry Truman. Truman didn't want to be President really, he didn't even want to be VP but FDR forced it on him and then died, leaving him stuck. Then Truman's wife decided she hated being first lady and wouldn't live in DC. He went from being a guy who loved hanging out with Senators, going to parties, etc to a guy alone in the White House. He dealt with it by hosting friends for poker nights in the White House, heading to the Carribean I think for frequent summer stays, etc.

Trump is surely living a wildly different life now than he did as a billionaire New York celebrity. He's a sociable guy and all of his contacts with people have to be vetted and passed through layers of protocol, it must be a bummer for a guy who liked to pop out at random for a meal on the town. Anyway he'll have to find is own ways of bringing the town to him, be it parties for friends in the White House or whatever. I'm confident he'll find an answer that will work for him.

Considering he was a man who could go anywhere on the planet (and beyond, really, if he was willing to give Russia $1 to go to space) at a moment's notice, having to go through like 50 security checks whenever he goes anywhere must feel like prison for him. I'd be surprised if he wasn't experiencing cabin fever. Harry Truman once said that the White House was the finest, most lavish prison in the world.

It's happened to every man who's been in it, and Trump is, unfortunately for him, no different.

I don't get the impression he went anywhere other than rich guy resorts, parties and restaurants - all still perfectly accessible to a guy with 100 security guys in tow. It's not as if he liked hiking in the desert alone with his dog.

Communism will help more white people than anyone else. Any equal measures unfairly provide less to minority populations just because there's less of them. Democracy is truly the tyranny of the mob.

Yeah but he has to check with people to do things. That is hell for a spoiled mercurial person like Trump.

He already had security. Now he has more security. No big change for him. The organizational headaches are dealt with by someone else either way.

It must have been a bigger change for Obama who was not far from a regular guy before he became president. I guess senators have security but probably not all the time.

There's a difference between security and Secret Service security. If Trump wanted to go somewhere as a private citizen, he and his people hopped in an SUV and off they went. If President Trump wants to go somewhere, roads have to be blocked off, sections of airports have to be blocked off, local authorities have to be looped in, etc... The Secret Service had an absolute shitfit when Obama one day decided he wanted to run to a Starbucks down the block. It's night and day.

See: the Alt-right.

Nah, I've just had to deal with gamers for a long time. Nerd social fallacy is strong, so it takes real insanity too get you booted. I'm more involved with tabletop as opposed to online video games, but the amount of crazy that people accept is insane.

I also get it's not even most gamers, but remember there's no easy way to boot people out of the hobby, only your social circle. So the dregs of the gamer world congregate into their own sites, and shock and awe if chan trash and the like aren't markedly similar to freepers. And at least on the tabletop end of things, they are starting to roll right back into the main hobby, with guys like Zak S (a serial doxxer/online abuser who's only noted difference to Milo is a lack of intelligence) getting involved with major companies on the creative side. And of course the pedo element is always involved in hobbies that have young people in them, and nerds in general are weak as hell at actually making sure that those people end up being deal with properly (i.e. placed in a cell with registration and economic/social exclusion afterwards) so of course the community is rife with pedos and missing stairs. It's hard enough getting half the nerds to accept that there's an issue (it took me years to come around, for instance) and even then the nerd community is very socially conservative and unwilling to do much for a marginalized person when the offender is a typical nerd and not some sort of community outsider.

Freep might die in the future, but its mentalilty will still be alive and well online, just with younger and more tech savvy users on better designed sites.

But then this also describes the awful types of nerd libertarians who just can't grasp any kind of systemic issue or social constructed hierarchy problem for the same reasons.

Honestly, the reason the nerd community is awful is because of a lack of self-policing. It became a place where anyone who was hated could be washed out into. The thing is, that isn't just socially awkward people with good hearts like an 80s movie, it's also generally abhorrent dickwads who want to do awful stuff who are rightfully kicked out of groups. Add that with a slow but allowed to grow culture that "normies" and "casuals" rejected them and thus have no place among them and you have the perfect dogwhistle for an anti-feminism, anti-gay, anti-ectera movement to take hold.

Ideally, all of those people would be ostracized and removed, but its hard to fully implement. The fact is, all it takes to be a nerd is to like nerdy things. That's why I think one way of helping things is to try to push out these fringe idoits by a mix of self-policing (This requires defeating nerd social fallacies) and I actually think that trying to redefine nerddom might work. Like, excluding people like that as an other, by making it clear that we aren't all like that and backing that up with social ostracization, and things of that nature we can successfully push them out and make it easier for real nerds to enjoy themselves and stop those backwards idoits from loving things up.

Hence my, not all gamers, comment. Didn't intend the parallels to the awful "Not all men" Thing (just noticed the parallels and felt bad and heck only mentioning them to apologize for them), but I do think the intent of kicking them out of the shared identity in words and actions can actually clean up the nerd community.

Edit: Yeah, seriously, sorry about that. My attempt to be like "We need to exclude these toxic people" really did come off as the opposite in hindsight. Really should have considered how badly anti-feminists had taken over the "not all X" line.

I'd argue that the single biggest reason for this is that you need to be at least moderately prosperous in order to have the resources and free time to get involved in anything enough to "qualify" (for lack of a better word) as a nerd. So already you're selecting from a population that skews pretty heavily rightward, politically.

That's an absurd notion considering the basement dwelling nerd stereotype is very true. Certain hobbies do require a certain level of affluence but there are huge exceptions. Something like warhammer or competitive magic is very expensive but a game of dnd requires nothing but some 10 dollar dice and some books which while costly, can be shared amongst a group.

But you still need to have the leisure time for it. Just having hobbies, no matter how much money you can afford to spend on them, still necessitates a certain level of prosperity, especially to be able to dedicate enough time to the pursuit to be a "nerd," whatever the cutoff for that is.

Just to be clear, I wan't trying to say that only the middle class ever become nerds, just that due to the innate requirements of the hobbies involved, they tend to be drawn from more affluent backgrounds.

Personally, I figured the Alt right/Gamergate grew more out of the sort of gamer who just sits at home playing Halo on their Xbox while screaming homophobic obscenities whenever someone kills them, and harassing any females who dare speak on voice chat until they quit. You can get thrown out of an RPG group for being a nasty creep, but it's been a running battle keeping them out of online matchmaking.

I may just be sheltered because all the people I used to play D&D with were quite liberal, though.

There are very few people with truly no free time between work and collapsing into exhaustion. And being actually affluent tends to open you up into far more expensive hobbies than being online or playing a video game.
