I'm still playing the games that came out on January 23rd.

Beat Berseria on Sunday, played that KH 0.8 demo on Monday, and then started on RE7 on Tuesday.

Maybe I will eventually get to Nioh which I'm sure would be GotM.

For me it was gonna be Nioh but RE7's DLCs are just so good that Nioh may as well be tossing that game's goddamn salad.

edit: Although Nioh is still good regardless

I remember goons endlessly mocked that one DA2 dev who said "every time you press a button, something awesome happens" but I was like, why? Why only in CRPGs do we tolerate boring bland abilities that aren't impressive and don't even work the way they're supposed to half the time? If the best thing you can say about the combat in an RPG is "I can program my party members to play the game by themselves" then you need some better combat, imho.

In DA2 though it was press a button to retread the same area I've seen a hundred times before

Carly shook her glass, willing the ice to melt. "You still haven't told me what the mission is."

She leaned forward. "We are going to assassinate the bad men of Hollywood."

Yeah I'm not saying DA2's combat was any good, just that the sentiment behind it was fine.

The game draws inspiration from Star Trek, which is infamous for both a captain who sleeps with everyone and a fandom who was so obsessed with romancing crew members with their self-insert characters they actually coined the term Mary Sue. In that context, Mass Effect is somewhat tame.

And yet in Star Trek, no captain ever sleeps with a member of their crew.

There might be some maybes. Like you could argue that Kirk banged Yeoman Rand off camera at some point, but it's unsubstantiated.

Even more reason to do it. Schmooze them into the sack then have them take point and die repeatedly, with no consequence to the former at all. A true sociopathic coup

The following is based on Star Trek novelizations and some details might contradict canon:

Sakurazuka posted:

quote:

While Crusher and Picard do not get together on screen, except in the alternate future seen in “All Good Things…” (not even in the films;), they do, finally, in the tie-in fiction, specifically in Michael Jan Friedman’s Death in Winter, and the subsequent post-Nemesis TNG fiction, in which they are married and have a son named Rene.

And when Picard did date a crew-woman briefly, he cleared it with Starfleet first.

Beverly Crusher was always a weak-rear end character and I never really bought the chemistry between her and Picard. I thought that other doctor who was kinda racist towards Data was a more interesting foil to Picard's idealism.
