MY RELIGION IS THE SMALL BLOCK V8 AND COMMANDMENTS ONE THROUGH TEN ARE NEVER LIFT.

Pillbug

Probably visiting Mitsubishi and being that close to the face of death makes a man realize he has to make some life changes. Like when you visit grandpa in the hospice and all he can talk about is his regrets.

He's gonna buy out a vineyard and start producing oddly-shaped wine with poor initial quality.

The Mitsubishi takeover may have been my favorite car story from 2k16, and I like to imagine that behind the scenes it went down like the boardroom scene in Kill Bill.

When I was at the Pittsburgh Auto Show this past weekend, we were on our way out and passed through the Mitsubishi section.

Nearby was a group of teenagers and I overheard "This is just SAD."

Triples make extremely good noises so as long as it's just as fast as the 4 it's a trade I'd be happy to take.

Article also says they're replacing the stock 17 tires with 18s- oughta make the ride even stiffer and more punishing on our rough, pothole-strewn US roads. Combined with the 3-cyl un-balance the feeling I'm getting is "if you don't like the NVH buy another car".

So this is good? Have no clue whether the power delivery characteristics of the new engine will feel as good as the current 4-cyl, though.

I thought everyone already realized that smaller engines get worse fuel economy and higher emissions in practice? WTF Ford.

I drove both of those cars recently before ending up with another 3 series. The legacy is practical but very slow and all the eyesight junk re-enables itself with every engine start which would have driven me nuts. Lease payments on the Legacy and the dealer demo 328i xdrive I ended up with were identical (~$380/Mo) which made it a no brainer, they're not even in the same league in terms of performance.

The Jag was nice but if I was in that price range I'd have probably ended up in a 340i instead. They have more room on the inside, I think the interior is higher quality and the engine is incredible, even without the supercharger whine. Worth a look for sure though, especially if you like a smaller more cockpit like interior. 5yr/60k maintenance included too... The residual and MF were not as good as BMW but were reasonable enough.

Of the 3 the Legacy is the only one I'd want to own out of warranty...

That 1.5l 3 cylinder could help the torque down low. Will be interesting how it handles adding power.

That article seems primarily focused on diesels. Gasoline engines are inherently lower in emissions so the tradeoffs are different.

Here's a presentation suggesting a 3-cylinder turbo with direct gasoline injection is the best way to meet emissions, economy, and drivability. Ford seems to have seen it.

I wonder if they managed to cut any weight going from the 4 to the 3-cyl. Could be another minor improvement along with all the other changes noted.

gently caress that. Go big or go home. If you can get 30mpg on the highway in a c6 Z06 just imagine what you could get with the same engine in a car that weighs 400lbs less!

Is GM going to ever go to the Transit/Sprinter style? Around where I am every work van is a Transit, Sprinter or sometimes the Chrysler one that's ugly but a similar build style. They just seem so much more practical than the old style Express or Econoline.

Even though I like the way the old E-Series looks we've been getting a couple of the new Transit Vans at work and they are so much better in terms of storage space.
