Target demographic might be a more important distinction in this case. I haven't read that feature yet but previous articles on the show don't mention dvr stats. They cite social media and single/disc sales wrt the show's popularity, both of which I'm assuming kids don't contribute much to.

it would be cool and good if there was an article saying like, "holy crap! x demographic study finds kemono friends very popular among kids," but I think it's lol that people just keep saying it's a kid's show. I get the comparison but it's like calling a manga a seinen based on the premise, when it's serialized in a shoujo mag
