Some of these options are slightly tedious, but you're being completely over the top. Being unable to chase an enemy down can be frustrating sometimes especially since you can't attack out of the special movement modes, but its not that bad. On the other hand, I do think you should be able to attack out of forced march but you're automatically on the receiving side of an ambush or some similar large penalty.

Yeah it was probably the quick expansion urge, thanks for your answers everybody :)

Some very impressive patch notes, too.

That and the whole "gain a blessing for winning a heroic victory" means you're more willing to fight a battle when the more prudent option for other factions would be to come back with an overwhelming advantage, and also that you don't lose the blessing for losing a fight, but running from an attack, means you'll want to go ahead and put up at least a token fight when outmatched, which is a very face-saving style of action as well.

During the Let's Play they did they mentioned that Heroic Victory wins guarantee a blessing, but it's still possible to get a blessing for a lesser win.

But yeah, they're fairly true to form. They have a clear path to confederation with penalties for civil war, no major territorial ambitions (not required to win and they provide fewer peasants), and their whole crusader thing is facilitated with decrees that eliminate attrition, meaning they can roll through the badlands or wherever and beat rear end freely. All pretty cool.

Cygors.

Took a bit of headscratching to figure out some of the old LL weapon changes, pretty much it's taking away the increased melee damage on Lords who do 80% AP damage and shifting it over to an AP buff (Or +Large for the Axe of Dargo) which is a net buff.

In general most spells are cheaper with a handful getting cost increases, though some definitely seem overpriced to me still. Looking at you, Savage Dominion and Final Transmutation. And of course some spells like flipping Traitor Kin or Bray Scream aren't going to suddenly become viable because of a small price reduction.

Some other changes missing from the list:

Ungrim Ironfist:
+30 bonus vs. Large

Helblaster Volley Gun:
Doubled number of projectiles per volley from 9 to 18.

Black Knights with Lances/Verek's Reavers:
-100 cost

Empire Spearmen (Shields):
+2 melee defense

Forest Goblin Spider Riders:
-50 cost.

Both Gelt and Kemmler have had a mp cost reduction. For some reason that change just hasn't been listed in the patch notes.

Dwarf Warrior units also got a +25 cost increase, which seems to be missing.

(about flame cannon)

It might look like a nerf, but what it means in practice is that the Flame Cannon shots don't disperse their targets as much and thus further shots are more likely to be effective as well.

To be fair, Nagash learned dark magic, not high magic.

How do we guess that the elf campaigns will play? I think they should run like wood elves where Naggaroth/Ulthuan are all one-settlement provinces with max building slots, and high/dark elves should be able to capture each others settlements and colonize everywhere, but for campaign goals or special mechanics I dunno. Their win conditions will definitely involve annihilating each other.

Well, is this the last big DLC/FLC sort of thing before the expansion? We're not getting any new armies at this point, I think, anyway. Maybe during the gap between the last bit of FLC/DLC for the Old World, and the next TWW title, they'll have the chance to focus on existing LLs, hopefully making more playable factions in the process.

Yeah there should be a longer cool down, a higher winds cost, or a lower limit on how many you can summon. It's really whack now.

Yeah, greenskins need those big aoe buffs. With their low leadership they're supposed to be like shock troops but now they've lost a lot of their punch.

Ammanas posted:

Only thought of it after raise dead became what it is. I think I tried it without the zombies but I don't remember how it went, stopped using the build a few months ago. You could ditch one of the coaches and take 7 zombies instead and ditch raise dead and it would probably work even better since you'd be saving your winds.

It's tough to say how good bringing one or two black coaches now would be without knowing what they adjusted the buffs to but if they're close to what they were then they'd probably be really good in an attritious fight.
