I'm mostly worried about handing the reigns over to the people who oversaw the absolute destruction of the party at the national level and then went on to lose to Trump, who will undo everything we managed at the Federal level, because they are worried about dumbass poo poo like going high and trying to convince GOPers to vote for them I think Perez is fine in a vacuum but this isn't a normal chair election and it's 99% symbolic and poo poo is going to get hairy in a hurry if Ellison is rejected

(continuing on my prev post) You can have plenty of campaign/lobbying institutions that push for a single issue without having to structure your whole party around it For instance, pro-life across america puts up their billboards everywhere about how abortion is murder and baby has heartbeat after 18 days!!, and there's no response from liberals/the left to people who live in the places they target. Over time, you get people who might be fine with the status quo who call themselves pro life because they don't know anything about trimester regulations/fetal viability and think of abortion as doctors are killing fully formed babies a day away from birth. You could have extremists advertise that abortion is totally wicked awesome, and then liberals put up a more measured message about choice. The problem is that nobody does either and the establishment has just given up on funding for messaging in many parts of the country.

There was literally no reason for him to run. If Ellison and Perez will do the same then there is literally no valid reason to have somebody run who doesn't represent the sanders wing to some degree. And don't give me that poo poo about labor liking him, Ellison got plenty of union endorsements too.
