Again like for real: People actually out getting involved are seeing unprecedented new members who are excited to take the party in a new direction. There was massive applause at my meeting when someone said that in order to win elections the democrats need to run actually progressive candidates. There was massive applause when someone said "let's do single payer." The energy that's entering the democrats is from people upset at how the party has been for years. Spurning that isn't a good idea, which is why the Dems did it, cause they're... you know. they're the democrats.

If the Republican experience means anything, it's that it doesn't matter who runs the party. This is the time for the grass roots to take control and purge the unclean until the Dems elect a populist idiot of their own.

GobiasIndustries posted:I'd rather have had Keith or Pete, but I'm gonna use my upsetness to work on finding good candidates for local office. I suggest we all do the same!!! Yep yep. Unfortunately my state party has decided that none of our folks will be up for election until after 2020, only 33% of the party leadership is elected, a good portion of them serve for life, and they have come out hard against this 'leftist radical uprising' so... it's gonna be an uphill battle.
