Here's a great one for the "buried lede" file:

My [20f] boyfriend [22m] won't take his shirt off in front of me

Right away, my first thought was "Well, he's got something weird, like a birthmark or mole, or red blotch or something he's embarrassed about. Maybe a third nipple."

Oh no, my friends.

quote:

Been together 6 months. When I first met my bf, over a year ago he was very in shape, he was fit and muscly. (I wasn't with him at the time) Shortly before we got together he tried lifting too much at the gym and suffered from an umbilical hernia. He refuses to get it fixed even though it's a very simple surgery. I don't know why. He hates talking about it and gets frustrated when I mention it.

Whenever I press on a certain area of his stomach it hurts him and he can no longer go to the gym or lift heavy weights. Because of this he's put on a lot of weight, probably like 45lbs. I still find him attractive though and I just want him to be comfortable with himself.

Apart from this whole issue he's a pretty confident guy, but I know he's more insecure about his body than most people realise. When we have sex I want to be able to touch him all over and not have to worry about this. I don't know what he's hiding, I can tell he's out of shape and I'm still with him so I don't know why he thinks me seeing him without a shirt would be an issue. It's just kind of frustrating at this point.

How can I talk to him about this without making him uncomfortable? Thank you

Tldr; boyfriend suffered from hernia and hasn't had it fixed, he can't go to the gym any more and has put on weight, refuses to take off his shirt in front of me

Me [15 M/F] with my Mom[49 M/F] . Thought I was looking at child pornography.

quote:

Greetings, and thank you for reading.

This morning, I was browsing the top posts of the rage subreddit and I came across a post which I will show in the comments section. It was a whisper post about a woman cheating on her deployed BF. It featured 2 fully clothed kids kissing each other.

When my mom saw it, she flipped. She assumed that this was child porn, due to my history of watching hentai. When I tried telling her otherwise, she just shouted over me, telling me I didn't know what I was talking about. When I asked to explain the context, she told me it didn't matter.

Now, I risk losing my Internet access during free time, and possibly my phone being shut off(Pictures of anime girls there too). What should I do?

tl;dr: Mom saw me browsing Reddit and an external whisper post of 2 kids kissing, assumes the worst, wants to dole out huge punishment.

Update: I talked things out with my mom, explained what whisper was, no punishment.

submitted 6 days ago by hhjmk9

Greetings and thanks for reading.

I am a high school student who is smart and makes honor roll, but gets in trouble a lot due to the phases I have and how deeply I get into them.

This includes but is not limited to:

Telling people at my school about a game called Yandere Simulator and making no girl want to work with me in class, causing me to mess up on assignments.

Consistently thinking of hentai while talking to my female teachers and students.

Arguing with my mom about loud dubstep and rap.

Having my mom think I hate my own race(am black) because all of the pictures of anime girls on it.

Thinking life is meaningless due to studying nihilism for my school's scholastic bowl team.

Asking for a 5 hour Saturday detention for absolutely no reason.

I've had a therapist for a year and a month and am on antidepressants and ADHD meds, but it's not really working. I still often act or feel randomly depressed or like a court jester in class.

TL:DR: Wishing to break a cycle of phases in my life.

At least he's in therapy.

Jesus Christ. My mom got an umbilical hernia last June and it put her in the hospital for over a week; it had gotten infected and she probably wouldn't have survived if my girlfriend (now fiancee) and I were 24 hours later getting her into the hospital.

I'd still bet on him using whey protein powder with plenty of lactose in it while being lactose intolerant. He's also probably consuming way more than he needs.

Yup. Camming pays way better and is also much lower stress at age 19 than working at some chain restaurant, local diner, or grocery store. It's a really good idea!

Most people who do it on purpose eat that way, yes, but if he keeps calories constant and eats much more protein, that necessarily means he's eating fewer carbs.

It even makes some people's piss smell especially heinous, which matches the evidence of the face-melting bathroom.

That's now how ketosis works. You're not gonna accidentally go into ketosis and if you eat a very high protein diet you won't go into it period because of gluceogenesis

Ketosis is a known consequence of high protein, low carbohydrate diets. The main reason you lose weight on diets like the Aitkins diet is due to ketosis, since the body can't get enough calories from protein and is forced to start using up fat stores for energy. Ketosis might not be what's the cause in this particular, case, but it really is something you can go into by accident if you start doing dumb things with your diet, like replacing meals with protein shakes.

You won't go into ketosis consuming lots of protein because your body will just turn the protein into energy instead. At least not enough for the kind of effects people are talking about. Lots of times when bodybuilders and others do ketogenic diets they do have high protein intake, but ketosis like everything else happens on a spectrum.

If you eat an excess of protein it is converted into glucose via gluconeogenesis, preventing the body from switching to ketones as a primary energy source. By definition it can't be more than a moderate protein diet.

Ketosis is caused by an absence of glucose, not a surplus of protein. Drinking protein shakes is not going to make your diet ketogenic.

Again, I think it's reasonable to assume from the word "diet" that he is at least keeping total calories constant if not reducing them.

If it isn't ketosis I have no idea what it is. She doesn't mention farts, it's just body and bathroom odour.

This gave me an idea for a terrible secret word. Only one result, but...

I [29M] cheated on my girlfriend [28F]. She's not breaking up with me, but not forgiving me, either. I don't know if I can be in a relationship like this.

quote:

My girlfriend and I have been together for 5 years. For the majority of our relationship, things were fantastic. In 2014 we hit a rough patch. She was going through a lot of stress, I was dealing with family issues, we weren't connecting...things were bad. That being said, I have no excuse for what I did. I cheated on her. It was a one time thing and I immediately regretted it. Even worse, I didn't tell her right away. Towards the end of 2015, however, I did.

I told her everything. I told her that I realized I hosed up, I regretted every second of it, I understood if she never forgave me, but that I hoped she would and I would do everything she wanted to make it up. She said she didn't want to break up, but that there would be conditions moving forward if I wanted any chance of our relationship to work. I agreed whole-heartedly and said I would do whatever she wanted. Her conditions were this: I had to cut all contact with the girl I cheated with (done), I wasn't allowed to go out drinking without her (done), I had to give her full access to my phone and computer (done), and we had to go to couples' counseling (done).

It's been a year now, and absolutely nothing has changed. I haven't been to a bar with just the guys in a year. If I'm not home within 10 minutes of my regular time, she blows up my phone and we get in to a huge fight. A female coworker called me after hours to ask how to reset something on the computer, and I was kicked to the couch for the night. Even when I say I'm going to go out with just my guy friends for dinner or to go play a game of basketball, she will often call me during and ask where I am, when I'll be home. I know she's doing this to see if she can hear girls' voices in the back. Any time I ask if she can do something different -like not leave her wet towel on the edge of the sink, or if she could remember that I hate cilantro and leave it on the side of dishes, or to turn down the TV while I'm on the phone with my parents- she pulls the "you cheated, you can't tell me what to do" card.

I love my girlfriend. I want to be with her. But I want our old relationship back. I thought that when she said she would forgive me, she meant it. This isn't forgiveness. This is constant punishment. I get her being mad, I totally think I deserve that. But for a whole year? I think that if she's not going to forgive me now, she never will. I'm constantly tense in my own home and feel like I'm on probation.

Is there any way we can make this work? Do I still deserve this much "punishment" after doing everything she asked for a full year? I can't keep living like this.

tl;dr: I cheated on my girlfriend. She said she would forgive me, but I'm still being punished a year later. I don't know if we can get our old relationship back and I can't keep living life like an abused puppy in my own home.

:qq: Why won't she trust me after I proved I wasn't trustworthy?

It's not like it needed to be proven, but it gives great evidence against trying to "make it work" after getting cheated on: even if the cheater did everything you wanted and never betrayed you again, would that really make you happy?

Why'd he even tell her at that point? If I found out on my deathbed that my wife had a one night stand during a rough patch 4 years into our relationship then never did it again I don't think I would give a poo poo. I mean sure if you gently caress up the right thing to do is be honest about it immediately but he already kept it a secret for a year of allegedly good behavior so at that point he prolly shoulda just kept it to himself.
