imo it has more parallels with the alt right and the rise of Trump. Trump is very Milosevician. This is more like if the Yugoslavian Communist Party maintained control over Yugoslavia, except instead of a left wing bureaucracy enforcing "brotherhood & unity" we're going to be led by lobbyists.

i'm in this camp. i mean, if he can get people excited to vote and turn up when and where it counts, i'll give him the credit that is due him. but past performance can be indicative of future results, and establishment types don't exactly engender excitement.

is that being a little unfair to perez? probably, but i'm sure i'm not the first person to be a little burnt out on the whole 'let's give them a chance' argument. motherfucker had better hit the ground running, hitting hard and hitting fast, otherwise he'll have wasted everybody's time and preempted the next seven years in favor of republican control.

So with 200 out of 435 voters, isn't the bigger picture here that 46% of the Democratic Party wanted it to be led by a progressive?

A nearly 50/50 split doesn't bode well for the party's future.

For comparison - there's currently 52 sitting Tea Party caucus members in Congress out of 290 overall GOP members (18%). The Tea Party caucus peaked at 60 congressional members in 2011.

The same fuckwits who picked incompetent leadership like DWS and Donna Brazile went for Perez.

They would rather play than DC favor game than win actual elections.

This doesn't take into account how the Tea Party was successful in the down ticket races especially for purging moderate republicans.

Great - so all the DNC needs to do is fund progressives to purge the moderate Dems

eh, it's something. it may not be something new, it may not be something great, it may not even be something worthwhile. but i ain't about to fault people for trying to put forth an effort. given the option of an attempt at storytelling or attempt at cloning the success pewdiepie #783, i'm gonna opt for somebody screaming because it is part of the story instead of screaming over it.

yeah a political party had a political struggle and came to a compromise where they created a new position two representatives of the doctrinal conflict would work together directly. its disappointing to people like myself who wanted to see them signal that they're going in a radical new direction, but ultimately tehy're both liberal capitalists and good friends so idk why you expected ellison to be some kind of revolutionary game changer even if he didnt win
