How is Pretty Deadly? I loved the first (and only, somehow, still?) Bitch Planet trade.

It's very... poetic? Mythic? It's more about the experience of the story than the plot. I found I had to read it in one sitting as it didn't really work for me with gaps between issues. I haven't read the second arc despite owning most of it for that reason. If you like Emma Rios and spaghetti westerns, give it a go. I can't even compare it to Bitch Planet. Completely different books and tones and types of stories.

Archer & Armstrong, Quantum & Woody, and Eternal Warrior are my favorites. I'd get everything except Shadowman (my brother loves Ninjak), but I'm broke right now. The good thing is that Valiant sales are frequent.

This is true. Valiant's on sale every couple months it seems. Plus they seem to be on those bundle site pretty often. Just get anything that looks cool to you. Besides Shadownman there's no real wrong answer. Ninjak is real good. Your brother's a smart man. Well in this regard at least.

I have read none of Ninjak but I love the idea of "James Bond but also he's Snake Eyes".

It also features Roku, who is turning into one of my favorite Valiant characters. Matt Kindt has done such a great job with that series. Can't wait until he starts the new X-O series.

The current Superman is involved in the story, but I thought it stunk. Jurgens' prep for Rebirth is well worth reading, though. I'd get Convergence (for the Superman issues (EDIT: and The Question!)) and Lois and Clark. Teenage Fansub fucked around with this message at 23:16 on Feb 28, 2017 |

It's kind of funny the disparity between digital offerings from DC and Marvel. The number of times I've seen one post sayin how some DC sale sucks followed by one saying this Marvel sale rules. Plus Unlimited, which is just like, the best deal ever. That service took me from "hey comics are cool" to "oh no I've spent thousands of dollars on comics", with almost none of that cash spent on DC. I don't even sub to MU anymore so now I spend actual money on Marvel books that I've read but want to own to reread whenever.

Well, I've seen it before too! And the lack of a digital catalogue just doesn't make sense, I've asked about it before and all I've ever heard is that basically they don't do it because they don't want to look like they're copying Marvel. Which can't be the case. Have they ever publicly said why?

Teenage Fansub posted:The Superman sale isn't bad at all It's a bit limited, which is something I've noticed with DC sales - they just don't go deep enough at times, or touch the depths without really dredging it. That said, I think DC usually beats Marvel (and Image) during the ComicCon and Xmas sales, as the latter tend to do linewide 50% and DC has gone to 60-70 or so. It means I buy Astro City twice/year but it's not like I don't have too much to read already.

A year or two back, Marvel did frequent sales for singles on Comixology, and only did sales for essential/jumping-point trades (like Hickman's Avengers vol 1, Superior Spider-Man vol 1, etc). Now they've learned. They've really learned. Not a month goes by where I don't drop money for digital Marvel trades.

That X-Men sale is ridiculous, I just spent way too much on it.hadji murad posted:Is that four volume Onslaught collection any good? I've never read that. Even as someone who has a ton of nostalgia for not-particularly-good '90s X-Men comics, noooooooo. If you want some of the good stuff from roughly that era, get X-Tinction Agenda or X-Cutioner's Song.

# ? Mar 1, 2017 16:53 |

My favorite part about X-Cutioner's Song is that they decided it was such a good name they'd make a character named X-Cutioner a few months after it ended who was completely unrelated to anything in the crossover. I can't really vouch for it as a crossover as it did a good job of killing my interest in X-Men for awhile. X-Tinction Agenda is pretty fun despite 2/3 of it having terrible art.
