New chapter up: http://mangastream.com/r/shokugeki_no_souma/205/4073/1 Not much happens other than closing out the scene and skipping a month. I'm guessing the four we see leave with Azami are the ones who'll face the four which would mean we'll get to see Rindou cook.

It's not going to happen, but I'd kind of like this sort of set up to happen and the bad guys win. Then the losing good guys renege and there's gently caress all the bad guys can do because slavery is illegal. I also kind of want Food Hitler to refuse to honor his pledge and then Soma and the crew open their own competing school with the expelled students and Totsuki become a shell of it's former self with no real prestige and the dream of Central unable to come to fruition as a result.

Last week it did place last though, people didn't like going into the Jouichirou flashback right out of 10 weeks of Hayama, I think. No worries about the manga ending though, I think, they seeded another arc (BLUE) at least so we'll be here a while (sucks that they're slipping Christmas though )

Hayama being boring AF doesn't surprise me. I'm guessing it's part of the reason they cast F/SN Archer's VA for him was to make him more likable for fangirls.

(7th out of the 13 currently ranked series.) Though placing dead last in the latest issue had to be chilling, and I wouldn't be surprised if they got a warning. I doubt the issue is that the series has real life problems. It's more that this arc is explicitly about Erina and not Soma. That requires Erina to defeat her father. Those rankings mean nothing. It's a Top 10 seller overall. It's not being cancelled.

TheKingofSprings posted:Stagiere was technically a training arc and it was probably the best arc this manga has had tbh Technically the entire manga is a training arc. Literally. There have just been a lot of people suggesting the series is being cancelled and this is the last arc, which sounds ludicrous to me. Azami is a silly villain and they've been telegraphing for like 50 chapters that this is going to be Erina's arc; they made it explicit in this last chapter. Unless the ending of the series is about demoting the main character to a sidekick, I don't see it.

I don't think the manga is getting the boot. I'm just thinking that, given the poll results, probably people in general / the Editors in particular just want this overall (related to Central) arc to be done already. I swear that I read somewhere that even the writer acknowledged that one of the arcs had gotten a bit too long because he didn't planned it all that well.

There's little point in going over a month of training when they can far more effectively get on to the actual fights and just flash back to the important moments when the rebels win or reveal the secrets of their crazy new dishes.

the author acknowledged that the hayama arc was dragging but that the arc needed to happen anyway. and really, i agree with that. can't have one of souma's peers running around indefinitely after he beat souma. the execution was dull, is all.

Get hype. I'm glad they're starting things off with two of the chefs on the Rebel side that haven't been shown cooking in a proper battle. Sure they're facing two mystery chefs who may well have shown up previously and otherwise get wrecked, but who knows? Obviously the most dramatic finish will be a final 3v3 or 1v1 or something with everyone else defeated and it all coming down to the line, but this manga has defied expectations at times. I'm guessing based on her name, Kinokuni has something to do with books like she's mentally archived a library's worth of recipes or something so her cooking is largely conventional but multi-faceted as compared to the spontaneous Souma who writes his own recipes as he goes along
