So I went from having an Ognevoi and a Kiev to having an Ognevoi, a Kiev, A Minsk, and a Gnevny. Is there any real reason to keep the Gnevny or the Minsk? I'm assuming they're not amazing performers that I'd want to elite and hang on to. I only have one high skill point Soviet commander, so I get to decide to shove him in one of my T8s. EDIT: Just saw that they gave me 8 point commanders. Not great, but better than nothing.

My opinion is that Gnevny is a bad Anshan now and also that none of the VMF DDs 5~7 are worth keeping.

That's what I meant by pointing it to wows.exe... edit: drag-dropping the replay brings me to the loading screen where it also crashes. vvv Makes sense Heartcatch. I'm on NA. The Bayern is rough to play after getting used to the accuracy and shell speed of the König.  finishing stats on König: 24 games played, 15 wins. 5.28 kill/death ratio. 66k average damage.

I can't tell if I'm doing well at this game or not. I suspect not, because I die frequently, but my highest scoring game I died in the first two minutes because I was the only person defending our flag zone. My lowest scoring game I killed two ships (and got credit for it). It's all very confusing.

Played one game in the new tier 9 Trashcan, sold it. The captain that was on it was moved to the Kiev, they gave me a 9pt captain to replace him. So imagine the joy of a tier 9 BB with no high tier skills. Plus its a Tashkent. New Kiev is fun though. Scratch that, my lowest scoring game is now the one where I was half killed by being rammed (twice) by a "friendly" BB, killed two ships, and got a first blood medal. 60 hits on target.

Gnevny wasn't even good at tier 5, let alone now, I'm selling mine, and the Podvoisky. Might try the Minsk for a battle just to see what's what, but will probably sell it too. My 12 point Minsk captain is going in Kiev, and the 8 point Kiev captain I got for free for some reason is going to sit in reserve and wait for VMF battleships.

Being already a bit disappointed by the Bayern after the sweet König (lose significant amount of vertical accuracy and lose 50 m/s of shell velocity) - I'm wondering how underpowered the Gneisenau really is? I haven't even tried it and I'm already a bit pissed off at the 6 guns, without improved accuracy or firing rate, when the König has 10. Is it fun to play?

Fast,armored, decent guns, good secondaries and torpedoes. What's not to love ? I kicked rear end with it, granted I hated the other T7 BB and I played them before the favorable MM and before they got buffed but still.

The Gneisenau left me cold at first, but I really started to like it by the time I upgraded to the Bismark. The guns aren't great, and only having 6 of them is a problem, but this is the game telling you that you aren't supposed to sit back and snipe. You are supposed to get in close to people and force them to make bad choices. Do they turn away from you and run, which gives you shots at their side and better lets you decide the engagement range? Or do they risk getting close and getting torp'd, while also dealing with your better agility and faster turning guns. Plus, being able to go fast is huge on battleships, you can hang out close to cruisers which is handy for all kinds of reasons. They can eat torps for you and give people other ships to shoot at.

I'll charge into cap points like a motherfucker and spam secondaries and torps.  Why do you sometimes get dubloons as rewards for tasks? I don't remember seeing that reward on the task overview. Bayern is very good, a mini Bismarck. It's really tough and hard to dislodge if driven by a competent player. The Gneisenau is really good too. It goes fast and really you need the two guns to fight bow on and deal decent damage. It really shines at rushing other battleships and force them to make mistakes or eat torps, or otherwise be mauled by secondaries.
