Especially since it has a character that combines two of Stephen King's biggest dialogue weaknesses: he's black and also a teenager. Somehow, despite some cringeworthy moments, me pulls it off though.

Like I said, totally out of Raimi's comfort zone. But it has a killer Poledouris score, and you've got Costner, John C. Reilly and J.K. Simmons giving it their all. Edit: Also an incredibly young Jena Malone really nailing the "awkward teen with a single mom" role.
