Silent white light filled the world. And the righteous and unrighteous alike were consumed in that holy fire.
if russia HADN'T brought the full force of their intelligence apparatus to influence the election, Hillary might have won. if NY Times hadn't published the comey letter, Hillary might have won. If Hillary had campaigned hard in the states she took for granted in the last few weeks of the election, she might have won. If she hadn't have made the coal mine/deplorables gaffs, she might have won. If she hadn't had coughing fits and hadn't passed out on 9/11, she might have won.

This election was decided by a handful of votes. If any one of those thing had been altered, there's a good chance the winner of the popular vote would've also taken the electoral vote. Hillary's campaign is definitely at fault for losing the election, but that doesn't change the fact that Russia's interference influenced the outcome.

the fact I trust the CIA more than I trust Wikileaks isn't a show of trust in the CIA, it's a total distrust of Wikileaks' motives

similarly you can't deny Russia at the very least tried to interfere with the election because from a power politics perspective they'd be fools not to and I don't doubt they were responsible for the DNC "hack"

Getting mad bout wikileaks on the day vault 7 is unlocked is kinda funny. The only way russia is spying on me watching anime through my webcam is if they managed to convince one of the Ex contractors who walked with the entire CIA malware suite to sell them a copy. Also lol Obama lied about disclosing 0days going forward after the NSA leaks.

You know there's so many drat grass roots movements the left could have latched onto...and they never do. So many people out there with a message they could adopt, and calling out for various reforms they could strive for. Yet it's denied.

Oh I mean they'll astroturf and latch onto "BLM". They'll go for some sanitized version of what MLK Jr. and other's have said, while ignoring their overall economic justice he wanted to achieve.

The loving right at least seems like they listen to their base. And they WIN when they do i

I'm guessing it's that the hijab is a symbol of oppression in many countries, where not wearing it can you have kidnapped or beaten. But really, who cares about the women being disappeared by morality police when we can virtue signal?

i'm fine with the Hijab, I'm fine with people practicing islam.

My problem lies with Sarsour. I don't think her stances on issues like Shariah Law or how she treats women that disagree with her are very good.

Agreed. You should be able to wear whatever you want, but trying to make the hijab into a symbol of feminism is a loving stretch.

I found this article and found it to be a good read.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-progressives-tokenize-the-hijab-1486081260

quote:

Reducing Muslims to the hijab minimizes their multiple dimensions and contributions. Rather than celebrating great Muslim athletes no matter what they wear, hijabis are praised. This isn’t a zero-sum game, but it’s clear that the accomplishments of those who are most obviously Muslim—that is, those who wear hijabs—are more likely to be noticed.

Plug “Muslim” into Google Images, and almost all the results depict women in hijabs or men in traditional garb. Where are the results for Muhammad Ali, one of the most prominent and accomplished Muslims in the world? What about for Mesut Ozil, winner of the 2014 FIFA World Cup? One of Hillary Clinton’s closest aides, Huma Abedin, eventually appears—without a hijab, and much lower in the results.

It’s easier to check a box for diversity when your token Muslim representative looks distinct. Muslim emoji? Put a hijab on it. Muslim in a movie? Put a hijab on her. Worried about Mr. Trump’s travel ban? Hit the streets with a hijabi on a poster.
