The only ship I ever heard of being downsized when it made the jump to player-flyable was the bulwark and that was also just one dude who was real adamant that it was and nobody really agreed with him. Tarantula, Vonph, all those crazy things are full size, so there's not really any precedent for them shrinking the Flatprise. Plus, you know, it's cryptic, so it's up in the air as to whether or not they even thought about that aspect.

It's great flying the fleet temporal battlecruiser with the TOS ranger skin on it because it's a very good ship stat & layout wise and it's also fairly tiny. Base turn 10 too which is normally a KDF only level of cruiser handling. Don't know if tossing a full set of fleet mk 14 retro 'dual' (single in practice) TOS phaser arrays on it was a good idea as such (so much dilithium burned) but it sure looks good.

I do believe the Scimitar was downscaled from the size it was depicted in the movie when it was revamped in LOR and made playable. IIRC before LOR the NPC versions were bigger. Really though, the Universe-Class is 2 miles long, and almost half as wide, would it even fit in the Breach? A player who got it early from cryptic on Tribble (so he could record a video of it) said it is slightly wider then two of the Drydocks near ESD. Although he didn't say which drydocks. The original Scimitar model was a garbage-quality NPC boss that was greatly oversized for dramatic effect. Post-LOR they remodeled it completely and the new model matched the "real" Scimitar's ~900m length. They also replaced all the NPC Scims with the new model, except maybe Donatra.

The Scimitar was downscaled to the canon size, actually - the boss versions were way too big. It also happened before LOR. All LOR did was give it a better skin.

Curious, as a quick QOL keybind, how would one bind so they can pop up the reward cooldowns window? Not a big deal, as it's just an extra click, but it's the little things in life.

If I've learnt anything from MMOs it's that it's always better to specialise. So like I've got a fairly fast and manoeuvrable Romulan warbird with plasma cannons and phaser banks, with consoles that boost plasma damage, and tac abilities that boost cannon and beam damage. Science I think is the space wizard class right? So I would just do some research on what the most OP science magic is and specialise in that.

Ships commonly used for builds like these are the Nautilus, which you can get from the c-store and the fleet shipyard; and the Edoulg, which you can get from the exchange. You can run science toons just like tactical ones, so if you come across a more traditional cannon or beam build they will work for you as well. fakemirage fucked around with this message at 11:38 on Mar 9, 2017 |
