Looking at it from a different angle—who could ensure that the Trump name isn't attached to a Chinese escort service, if not the (putative) billionaire President of the United States Donald Trump? If the man in command of the most powerful military on the planet and the purported champion of freedom and human rights across the globe, who moreover has a financial interest in these business, is unwilling to direct them not to exploit trafficked women, why should we expect anyone to? e: Svartvit posted:What I meant was that escort services probably are a part of whatever leisure/r&r IP sector that the Trump Organization has applied for. Oh I see. I guess I just don't really understand why someone would apply for an escort service trademark alongside a slew of others. Is that what the article means by "trademark class"? You can't apply for a bodyguard service trademark in China without it also encompassing prostitutes? Eugene V. Dubstep fucked around with this message at 18:23 on Mar 8, 2017 |

Perhaps, and this is crazy, he has no plans to actually allow his name to be used for an escort service and did this simply so that some shady Chinese businessman was prevented from doing so instead.

The escort trademark is just a humorous aside. The main issue presented by the article is that the process appears to have gone unusually smoothly, suggesting that Trump's status as President is effectively enriching him. This is the essence of why the ethically appropriate thing for him to do was divest all of his holdings in the Trump Organization after being elected.

I don't get how people can say we don't have boots on the ground in Iraq/Syria. Advisors are boots on the ground. White/grey SOF is boots on the ground. An MEU is boots on the ground.
