Well, when you talk to EDI in ME2's endgame she goes over Cerberus' funding and power structure, there aren't that many projects running at once because TIM prefers to be very hands on with what's going on. He probably wouldn't support the Andromeda initiative for several reasons. He wouldn't live to see the outcome, it was too multi-racial, it wasn't actually going to support earth, and by the time the AI launched, he was already probably drinking the blue kool-aid.

It'd also be a good opportunity to ensure human supremacy in the new galaxy along with their totally-legit-we-swear AI SAM.

It's a flimsy connection because Liara isn't poo poo for most of the timeline this initiative is even being developed, and even when she is, nobody outside of the Normandy crew even knows that she's the Shadow Broker. Nobody gives a poo poo about her research into the Protheans, most of the galaxy isn't even aware of the Reaper threat at all. Regardless of any in-game continuity, the reason for including her VA is "we have no confidence people will like our game without it containing endless references to the original," so brace yourselves for many more tortuous callbacks.

That part doesn't really matter. We already know TIM knows who she is, and probably even that she's the shadow broker, so that means Cerberus knows, and there's already some hints here and there that Cerberus is a big part of the bankroll for at least the human ark. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out Dad Ryder knows for a fact that the reapers are real because of some cerberus connection or w/e the gently caress.

And, again, it's not a symposium on reapers presented by Liara. It's an audio log, probably a journal or some poo poo. Like, yeah, it's a callback, but that's not actually a big deal?

If Liara prepared time capsules explaining the Reaper threat for future cycles, and she did, it would also make sense to broadcast it to the AI. And then she appended all of her lab notes because like all academics she's horrified by how few people read the poo poo they put out and she wanted to escape that fate.

That's what Dad Ryder is listening to.

She recorded all that stuff at the tail end of ME3, long after this mission was supposed to take off. It really doesn't make any sense other than just having a callback, there's no point in trying to rationalize it.

At the point in time the Andromeda Initiative left, Liara is a nobody researcher who's work is unknown and unverified due to Vigil shutting down between ME1 and ME2. She then vanished off the map to become a crime boss.

There really is no point trying to rationalize this. It's a dumb callback nothing more.

it does make sense though? Not that the Initiative would have the logs of her final message to post-Reaper species -- that doesn't fly -- but the stuff in Alec Ryder's cabin literally has her talking about trying to figure out the culture of a dead race like the Protheans. I don't know why he's got that in his cabin, but considering that's her thing in ME1 and she likely has her academic profile raised a bit by literally visiting Ilos, it makes sense that if he wanted information on that topic he'd probably read some of her stuff.

Now if your argument is "not liking callbacks," that's fair, but I think you're stretching here.

But she's not? Like, you're just flat out wrong about the basis of your argument, so I don't know what to tell you anymore. Get over it, I guess? It's totally small world syndrome because in the entirely galaxy there are like 50 people for some reason, but that's just kinda lovely writing, not actual continuity errors or something.

It's not a big deal at all but it is yet another piece of evidence that Bioware lacks confidence in their own writing - which is something they've been struggling with long before Andromeda.

I'm hoping the real purpose of the AI will be revealed to be the plans of one or more super wealthy tycoons to setup an empire far enough removed from the Alliance, etc. where they can make their own rules and whatnot. Of course you need a support structure to keep you comfortable so they bring along a few thousand gullible drones. And rather than try to hide it and risk exposure, just do it out in the open claiming it's for the enrichment of knowledge and all that, then solicit public donations and support from governments :10bux:

The point of an empire is to rule over masses of foreigners conquered by your in group. The AI is bringing about 100+ thousand people with no more than about 25k from any one species. The idea is absurd.
