GW cut costs a lot by switching to one man stores, bu imagine how much they'd save if they didn't have to spend any money on real estate! I present the future of Games Workshop retail

Yeah... honestly mkIII seemed rushed for whatever reason. There wasn't really a buildup to it, and they had some initial production problems. I can understand not wanting a long period between "mkIII coming soon" and "mkIII available to buy" but the presentation was a bit flat. The game seems to emphasis more jacks and less infantry, and it did it by nerfing a lot of infantry. Personally I like it, but I can see why people might have been upset by it. They did seem to overcompensate a touch.

I can already feel the general funk of that store. Like that feeling when you walk in the doors and the humidity is just slightly higher than normal while also being a few degrees cooler than the rest of the mall, and the place smells sorta like a mixture of high school gymnasium and Febreze. Though to be fair, that place looks way cleaner than most Warhammy places, so maybe my judgment is misplaced.

They do not so much "navigate" that minefield as carelessly drive straight through it, losing various arms and legs in the process, but uncaringly plowing onward oblivious to the damage. Which is to say, they have happily flushed chunks of their fan base down the toilet for any reason or no reason with regularity for decades, why worry about it now?

When I used to play competitive magic, I remember the physical feel and smell of the barrier wall you pass through to get to the main ballroom of the event. It was exactly like those robots in phantom menace stepping through the Gungan shields, then relentlessly attacked on the other side. I don't know why I continued to play it for so long.

So if I want to play WMHIII do I need like, upgrade cards like Malifaux or something or just the new rules or how does this dumb hobby work. I had the Hordes starter with the angry wolfmen and the blind dragon badasses and an extra blind dragon badass magnetized to switch between his two options.

Warmachine Mk3 rules are free online I believe. Points and stuff changed, you can buy a card deck from stores/online with the new stats for everything that was around at the start, or you can buy the decks for cheaper on the app and just play using a phone/tablet. Also at some point soon (next few months, summer?) all the cards will be free online and you will be able to print them yourself if you want.

They certainly did it while launching AoS but I think they also realised that large numbers of players left them for other games as Mantic made bank on KoW2. They appear to be more willing to admit (internally) that other companies do indeed exist and that they should maybe be trying (slightly) harder to keep customers happy lest they go try other games (the horror!). So I think GW are going to attempt to keep people happier this time, although that doesn't mean that they will succeed.

Fire Dragons in Kill Team are pro tier against MEQs. This is a public service announcement. Also apparently Privateer Press is killing the Press Ganger program. It's like they have decided to make GW level mistakes now for some un fathomable reason.

The rules for Warpath are up for preorder with an April 22 ship date, available in a Warpath + Firefight + Sourcebook compendium for 30 brexit dollars, which is pretty good, or available in 15 brexit dollar singles and the 50 or 100 brexit dollar starter sets. New vehicles aren't up yet, but I expect the standard Mantic discounted triples to return in the near future, I figure they're rebuilding stock. I have the PDFs for loan if anyone wants to read with intent to buy on liking them. NTRabbit fucked around with this message at 19:11 on Mar 9, 2017 |
