Recreational did not pass in Arizona and it still is a red state (although early/mail ballots came in massively blue which no one expected since in the past that was all military but it looks like the college students actually used them to vote this time so Arizona is like, a true swing state which might be why McCain is so comfortably anti-trump right now).

They already are getting ready to try again though as soon as possible.

McCain just got re-elected and is probably more likely to die in his current term than seek re-election.

Just like when the thread was certain the raiders were going to LV, you guys are being way too premature with your "I guess the deal is dead" thing. LV is still a strong possibility and Goldman Sachs has not publicaly and officially stated that they won't fund a stadium period. There is negotiation to be had, and if GS really is out, another financier may be a possibility.

Just calm down and wait.

Yup.

There's momentum and I think it's still likely the move will happen, but still not a certainty.

Well strictly speaking Oakland is getting the nice thing.

Also, the new stadium will be like 90% luxury suites and club. And gently caress you if you can't afford it.

NFL executive vice president Eric Grubman has been on record since January stating that Raiders owner Mark Davis’ plan to move the team to Las Vegas was “impressive,” despite have casino magnate Sheldon Adelson still on the proposal.

The league’s willingness to overlook such a red flag early on could signify that they understood Davis used Adelson for political purposes in order to secure the largest stadium subsidy in history at $750 million, but had no long-term plans for him.

Oakland having no plan seems like it's not news.

Other than maybe the Ronnie Lott group that I guess wanted Mark Davis to sell a majority to them (which was always basically dead in the water if there was any truth to that) was there anything even slightly workable in Oakland? Well...workable on the give me free money level which teams operate on at least.

Was just coming to post that article lol. Two owners said the Raiders have 27-28 votes in pocket for the move. Relocation fee would be in the mid 300 million range.

I think that article describes it best. All things being equal, the owners would want the Raiders to stay in Oakland. That's very clearly been the case all along. That they look to be ok with the move is the clearest evidence you could get that Oakland isn't buying.

Oakland wouldn't even give the Raiders control of the land, they gave that to the A's. That basically sealed the deal- Davis would have found local financing but the Raiders have to control the land to make a profit to pay off any loans accrued. It's what also killed the Adelman deal.

I don't know if they'll manage to get anything done, but my impression is Oakland has been at least willing to work with them as opposed to the Raiders.
