I don't think any Leafs fan has a problem with the minutes or opportunity being given to the Leafs young players.

No one said this? I said that he did that in Detroit, like Blashill is currently doing, but he's not doing it in Toronto and Blashill didn't do stuff like that at WMU or in GR so find the common link hint: it's Holland

I'm right hand dominant and a right handed shot. I started playing hockey when I was 8, and I always, always held my stick about 4 inches down, with my right hand, so I could always move my left hand to the top of the stick immediately.

Every coach I've ever had, up until Midget AAA, tried to get me to play as a leftie, and then when they immediately saw how bad I was at it, just went "ehhh that works for you"

If he didn't have 'character issues' and was white, people would be saying what classy move it was to honor Lemieux.

I feel like there is absolutely no benefit to putting your dominant hand lower on the stick, basically every action you make with the stick comes from the top hand

I guess you do aim wrist shots with the bottom hand tho

Hey HAS turns out Emelin sucks. My God I had like no idea. :psypop:

But seriously what are the upsides at this point. He can be physical but not too physical cause he has a plate in his face (not that it's scaring many top players cause they can just dance around him), he insists on taking the body instead of the puck every single time it's loose in front of the net possibly because he can barely stickhandle at an NHL level anyway, he's slow as poo poo bordering on pylon status AND takes the dumbest D-Zone penalties because of all of the above. It's like 50/50 the Habs are gonna get scored on any time he's out for a shift but no we gotta trade Pateryn and Tinordi away and give this guy the ice time and now we have gently caress all in St. Johns.

to be honest i haven't seen that much outrage over it. i remember listening to mark madden's show about a week ago (i know, i know) and brian metzer was guest hosting. his take was pretty stupid and he was trying to goad callers (since it's usually yinzer central) into agreeing with him but most callers were like "yeah my gut reaction was that i don't like it since it's unofficially retired and all, but the islanders didn't retire 66 and he's wearing it in tribute of lemieux so if he wants to do that it's not a big deal". obviously if you go looking there's going to be dumbasses but this seems to be one of those things where people are getting upset pre-emptively in defense of a guy who actually isn't creating much controversy

Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Goaltender Carey Price was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice.
I'm an American and a lefty who never picked up a hockey stick until I was 19, and the thought of putting my left hand on the bottom of the stick makes me want to yell out in pain.

He's too expensive for St Johns, his cap hit is too high for him to be gone without significant pieces moving along side him. You can sit him, but you're sitting a reasonably large chunk of the salary and limiting advertising his limited skillset (he can check hard).

We're literally down to hoping that LV takes him, which they might if there's not enough salary to take elsewhere.

I don't know why, but buying a bad player out never seems to be an option if you're a GM.

JUST PICK ONE. ANY ONE.
So with the Panthers losing again tonight, they're basically out of the playoff hunt. What do the people of SAS think about their future? Is Jagr going to stay another year? Will analytics-guys be scapegoated for them missing the playoffs after firing Gallant? How do they project next year, if fully healthy?

For the last question at least, I believe they could rise above the Atlantic division crap next year should they find another top-line winger or Jagr somehow "bounces back".

Same. My brother played a fair bit and he's the same. We both usually pay goal though so maybe our brains are broken because of that.

I would really like to switch my glove hand, because my glove kind of sucks. It's hard to do though.

Stats might get blamed, but they didn't actually make a lot of decisions that the stats people agreed with this season. For example, Derek MacKenzie signed through 2019 when he's 38 is a particularly bad call.

I don't agree with all of his stuff, but Shane O'Donnell had some reasonable thoughts on the team earlier this year. Given that they improved a lot after a few more games and some people returning from injury, I think you can count on a better season next year. Jagr isn't likely to get much better but he might get much cheaper.
