I thought Manga Spider-Man was pretty neat. Not like a-list comic, but good enough.

And yeah, the Emma Frost series was a pretty decent teen drama kind of thing that was massively hurt by Greg Horn porn covers.

Manga Spider-Man was the best part of the Mangaverse. I was happy he got a story in one of the Spiderverse books.

There was a Marvel comic (pretty sure it was Marvel) where there were brief appearances made by a dog-person and a cat-person, wearing robes. The cat person says "we are not friends" and the dog person says "we are best friends". It might have been one of the Abnett-Lanning cosmic things. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Or am I hallucinating?

He runs around the house or goes and runs around outside during the day, then at night we put him in this sort of indoor porch area at the back of our house where we keep his bed, his food, his litter tray, his scratching post et al.

I suppose it's just what we've always done. Did it with our old cat (RIP :() for the 15 years we had her and the habit's carried over.

Because it was the time in the publishing cycle again.

Honestly I'm not sure what it was that time in particular. But every writer seems to do their "Ben is human again" storyline eventually.

Of course, that's one of the half dozen or so standard plots every writer who comes on FF wants/feels obliged to do.

The others include:

1. The "definitive" Doom story
2. The "definitive" Galactus story
3. Johnny Storm "finally" grows up
4. A different hero subs in for one of the team
5. Reed is humbled in some way / Reed shows that he appreciates his family

(There might be others but those are the main ones to my mind.)

Okay, here's one that bugged me today while I was watching Apocalypse. When the Marvel logo comes up and flashes a bunch of comic panels, I feel like it used to be panels from the comic of the movie you were about to watch. Now it's just the same random panels for every movie. Am I just seeing things or did a shift occur? Because I swear if you had a keen eye you could tell the panel flash was X-Men or Blade or whatever. I tried tonight and I got nothin. Could've been ROM comics for all the detail I got.

I thought of this again after seeing Logan again. It's definitely panels from X-Men in that.

Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.
Marvel and Marvel Studios use different logos; Marvel Studios is the one that's getting increasingly flashy and customized.

I did like that the Marvel logo in front of Logan was fully made up of Wolverine panels. Even from the first Marvel page-flipping intro I wanted them to be tailoured to each movie's characters but I was disappointed for so long.

They do that every once in a while, usually the non-Marvel Studios film. I think one of the Hulk movies even turns it green with the panels maybe.

I doubt anyone cares but reading the 80s X-men chronologically, as soon as Chris Claremont leaves New Mutants, the new writer (Louise Jones) immediately tries to turn Empath. a Hellion with the power to controls emotions who is basically Grant Morrison's Emma Frost but a 14 year old boy who walks into the women's locker room to harass the female members, into a good guy who Magma is so in love with she drops the x-men to work with Emma Frost.

The book is continually saying that Magma's emotions of love are natural but are being emphasized when she's around him. Like in the Chris Claremont stories Empath was an absolute poo poo who snuck into the the X-mansion and made the Nurse staff (The guys that got turned into Red Indians in Demon bear) run off and join a hedonist leather bar orgy for a week.

In these situations is it best to pin this on the writer? The editors Ann Nocenti and Tom Defalco?

It's just the worst.

Also comicvine says Louise Jones married the creator of Power Pack at some point. It all comes back to power pack

Yeah I was trying to think of the others. I kind of get the original idea behind making it the same early on to establish it but the effect is memorable enough they could have been making it hero-specific the whole time. I'm hoping Homecoming has a good one.

Ann Nocenti is the one who came up with Longshot, Spiral, Mojo and so on, right? There is something going on there even if it was less out in the open than ol' Claremont.

Here's an actual question on the salacious topics: Has Sue Storm ever actually got with Namor? Was Reed dead or considered dead at the time?

Magik is a tragik charecter that makes the most out of her specific situation. I'll throw you Doug Rhamsey and Psylocke brief romance before Fall of The Mutants nipped that in the bud for the both of them.

Ann Nocenti's great but she has a lot of 80s science fiction writer quirks that Claremont has. Also is the editor of the entire New Mutants run cc;iiw so she had a guiding hand in some things.
