If you just want to restrict it to "all the magic is technology and Beatrice is a nanotech construct", you're still going to have trouble because she was on the board in game two. Maybe Beatrice is one of the players using nanotech to dress up as a witch, but that basically is the same as all our existing theories but with nanofilament whips instead of guns. I'm down.

Well, I hadn't thought that Kinzo Ushiromiya would have been a name passed on. Makes sense, now that I think about it, but still a bit surprising. I wonder who neoKinzo is, then? I'm not sure, but I don't think she genders good ol' neoKinzo, right? So neoKinzo could be one of the women? It's unlikely because Kinzold is Kinzold, but I can't recall if it's totally debunked right now. Also, I have a weird theory percolating but it's pretty out there and I'm pretty sure it's dumb bullshit so I'm reluctant to share it in full. TL;dr if we're going full "personas are separate from the people taking them on" what if Kanon and "K" (or anyone else, but we know the least about Kanon's inner workings) are different genders

I loved every single thing about that update. I'm unreasonably happy to have got Battler's theory for Nanjo's death at the time, but generally Battler's ridiculous "humans could have done it" theories put us all to shame.idonotlikepeas posted:My reaction here is similar to Beatrice's, but I'm not sure there's a contradiction (since the thing about no traps was in a different game). Yeah, I guess it's hard to blame Battler. He's not really trying to solve mysteries, per se, he just wants to prove that a human being could commit the murders and therefore witches are unnecessary (although maybe aliens are).

I wonder how those miniature bombs work? If they're like some kind of chemical mixture of the cheese and wine, pulling off the the tails of shrimp mean pulling out the rings of tiny grenades, or just a bagels with a shitload of poppy seeds I mean it was for breakfast. Whatever it was it must've tasted pretty good.

Welp, wrap it up folks, Battler's got this all sorted out. I think you'll find that small bombs are a pretty effective solution to every problem the story's thrown at us so far.

Much better. Rereading the story, it was clear it was pretty much unsolvable, not because it was too hard but because it was too easy. Since we're allowing highly unlikely possibilities, and we know at least some what we've been shown is false, there are too many ways to break the closed rooms, not too few. Unless you have Beatrice throwing red back at you there's no way to narrow it down. But going through the story I kept wondering "who is Beatrice?" She's got a portrait in the human group (and also the witch group), so there should be some human running around in that guise and personality. Presumably somebody who's unhappy and constructed her as part of a fantasy land. Until we learned Kinzo starts dead, I was assuming him. The idea that "Kinzo" is a title that gets passed on, and not a name, could let him be alive at the start of the story: prior to Oct 4th somebody figured out the riddle, and took the title of Kizno, then died. That leaves an ex-Kinzo free to run around murdering everybody. But the red limit of seventeen people blocks that (it's also absurd, but that's not stopping any of Battler's possibilities). A pity, since I think Kinzo makes the best culprit: he's crazy enough to do it and could command the servants to help him.
