Someone posted an in-progress build of one of these things and I figured it was too cute not to share: http://s.aliexpress.com/v6NneeAv A store called Cute Rooms that sells impressively detailed little storefront dollhouses for cheap...that are hilariously inaccurate in a "chinese artist's interpretation of an irish pub" way. Just keep in mind that if you buy one, this is what the unassembled contents look like:  But thats a largeish dollhouse storefront. They also sell presumably less complicated ones that come in altoids tins   (As an aside, the way Imgur is trying to make it harder to hotlink images from mobile has me worried about its longevity.) For people who like stats: Since starting AliExpress, I have made a total of 280 orders Of those, 52 are awaiting delivery 1 did not arrive (and I do believe it was shipped, just fell into shipping hole) 1 dispute was filed and concluded (in my favor, seller never responded) Quality-wise, 1 item was a serious disappointment (digital camera) Cost-wise, 3 of those items have been over $50 ~20 were in the $20 range

I've made 3 orders. One was refunded because the seller was actaully out of stock, one arrived and one is on its way. Surprisingly the most expensive one was the one that was refunded. It was about $25 CAD of pins.

Often they'll extend purchase protection if you ask, and if not then a dispute will buy you some time and will get their attention.

At  the boarder dudes can charge duty on the package, and then Canada Post will charge an additional service fee to collect the duty, and the package will be held up at the local parcel delivery point instead of being delivered to your door. All of which wipes out any cost savings vs. just buying from amazon.

 Buy all kinds of junk while spending lots of money. USPS doesn't care. Though one time a package made it to my zip code, was marked as undeliverable and then sent all the way back to the seller in China. Seemed like a lot of effort instead of just throwing it in a dumpster.

My bootleg Lego arrived! I got 2 sets, the KFE storefront & a swat team vehicle. Both appear to fit fine with regular lego. The quality is a bit lower, in that there were some bits of thin plastic coming off, like the mould remnants. I haven't made up the sets as I was planning on giving them to a 6yo, but maybe I should to make sure everythings there & working first. Also I opened one package in the car and the fumes were a bit overpowering. I will air it out before gifting! I've now done 3 orders of various crap from AE and it really is like Christmas everyday with parcels arriving non stop.
