People here fetishize ME2 to a really weird degree.

Who would have guessed a lot of people in a Mass Effect thread love the best game in the series? if 1 had better combat or 3 wasn't rushed this might be different but I get it.

Don't forget all the copy and paste buildings in 1, or the fact that Liara basically only existed to further the plot/get the writer out of the corner, like Troi in early TNG.

2 was so restrictive though and had arguably the worst insanity in the series.

Making everything have shields or armor and then making shields and armor provide immunity from most of the fun powers was the worst. It also incentivized bringing along garbage squadmates by gimping the cool ones (see: Miranda v. Mordin). Also had a small selection of weapons and locked 3 classes to pistols only until 2/3rds of the way through the game. Or the all or nothing Paragon/renegade system which was at its absolute worst.

It did a lot of things right, but mechanically it is hard to go back and play.

Also loving locking Legion to endgame is inexcusable :colbert:

Carly shook her glass, willing the ice to melt. "You still haven't told me what the mission is."

She leaned forward. "We are going to assassinate the bad men of Hollywood."

Origin has never ran poorly for me, actually their tech support has been super helpful + responsive compared to Steam.

Same. They've also had some (minor) features well before Steam did (like offline messaging).

E: The issues with the lower right corner of the screen were annoying as gently caress though.

Are we talking about the same Origin that literally did not have a functioning password reset system for years, necessitating esoteric workarounds involving creating a SWTOR account to reset ones password?

I have also only had good experience with them. I've never understood the anger at them for not using Steam. I don't care if they use it or not, it's not like they're charging to use Origin. UPlay on the otherhand...

I've been sitting here for 5 mins trying to think of a joke to make but I just realised the animators of Mass Effect already did it for me

Well while I was able to download files, I am still not able to install them. Origin keeps asking for permissions from administrator, and no amount of administrator privileges or running as Administrator or compatibility modes or reinstallation or cache clearing or .NET Framework updates seems enough to get me past this point. :suicide:

A problem Origin had as recently as 2015 and as early as 2013. Origin and Uplay are both terrible programs.

Just saw Ryder running in the casual section. I liked how her body shifted when running around a corner. The run animation is so much better than ME3.

Initial analyses indicates that we are dealing with a Third Person Shooter game with RPG Elements set in a sci-fi setting, and that is possible to play as a hideous creature with appropriate settings applied in the character creator.

I picked up Origin Access and from what I can see is I can play on the 16th. But a bunch of people are streaming so we're watching those. I like what I see so far but it'll be better to understand once we actually have our hands on the controls.

Edit: Just saw the part where they were checking out planets in a solar system and I don't know if the cinematic zoom is a hidden load screen or not but that could get to be a bit much. Hopefully you can skip.

The problem isn't with Polygon, it's that your expectations of the aptitude of video game reviewers is too high

What are you trying to install? ME:A isn't available for preload yet is it? I signed up for origin access but my andromeda just says "preload available on the 17th" which i'm sure can't be true since I paid $5 like a winner to play it on the 16th (and also saved $6 on the preorder so actually, I'm smart)
