It's incredible how powerful representation can be. Just allowing a person to know that they can exist is such a weight to be lifted. edit: which also often goes frustratingly overlooked by allies. It's hard to get across just how suffocating it is to almost never see yourself in culture, which is why I cried over the dumb gay relationship in ID4:2. I was slightly too old for Power Rangers at the time and I always thought it was lame, but man it's really like half a step up from local access. Part of it is how badly the Japanese footage is spliced, but even the all Western stuff is horribly edited.
