To expand, the ones I know that stayed home grew up in right wing homes, and had spent their lives being told that Hillary was evil incarnate, and therefore reasoned that there would be no difference either way. Their support of Bernie was more "please let me choose between anyone but Hillary and Trump" than any real ideological reflection.

Having grown up rural (but escaped to the city) myself, it's easy to see how it happens. I have a hard time describing to my city-born peers just how much hating everything Clinton is part of the culture out there.

1900 (MCM) was an exceptional common year starting on Monday (dominical letter G) of the Gregorian calendar and a leap year starting on Saturday (dominical letter BA) of the Julian calendar, the 1900th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 900th year of the 2nd millennium, the 100th and last year of the 19th century, and the 1st year of the 1900s decade.

January 2 – U.S. Secretary of State John Hay announces the Open Door Policy to promote American trade with China.

The U.S. Senate accepts the British-German treaty of 1899, in which the United Kingdom renounced its claims to the American Samoa portion of the Samoan Islands.

I'd bet money that Trump hates it. It's get nothing but bad press (which is all that matters).

Trump spent all of half a day focusing on healthcare legislation, learned it was really loving complicated (which he later deflected as "no one knew how hard this is"), delegated it out to to the GOPe and wisely waited to see how it would turn out before taking credit for the whole thing.

Now the one thing the GOP has stood for for the last seven years - repeal of Obamacare - is in question. Trump is fuming.

I bet one of the main reasons Trump is siccing Bannon and Breitbart on Paul Ryan is because Trump has never had to deal with someone who questioned him and was in a position where Trump had to deal with him but couldn't fire him outright. I imagine that's where a lot of this rage comes from, especially with the tape of Ryan saying he wouldn't defend Pisshair comes from.

The repubs have a supermajority in both houses. And also, they are fundamentally happy with the law. The governor has tried to placate them with some compromises which treat trans people as predators, but they won't bite on a repeal.
