Oh, oh no. I just watched the meeting Peebee video and they're reusing the Ryder is the only person that can interact with this ancient tech contrivance from ME1. The more I watch the more I get this sinking feeling that the plot in this is going to be a half arsed patchwork of ideas from the other games.

I think there's a twist in that Ryder can do so because of their connection to SAM. Alec was able to get the Remnent Machine running too. And based off of that launch trailer I think the other twin Ryder is going to be captured by the Archon and use them to hack SAM and be able to use the Monoliths.

I legit wonder if Kanye's Power was their first choice but someone had to make an executive decision and this is what we ended up with.

The game will probably be okay. It was pretty much a guaranteed buy for me because I really enjoyed the original ME games. The facial animations are awful but I don't really feel like that is going to be something that has much bearing on whether or not the game is fun. And the writing will be bad, as it is in 99.9 percent of all video games ever made. So what?

I wish I could say it is weird how many people are weirdly rooting for it to fail in this thread, but I guess that happens with every big game.

It's a defense mechanism in a time when quite a lot of highly anticipated games turn out disappointing even with good reviews, it's better to go in with excessively low expectations and be pleasantly surprised if it turns out good rather than expect a game to define an entire generation and instead get a 60 dollar poo poo sandwich.

Do that but instead of featuring Ryder it features the feudal Archon antagonistic thing in place of Kanye in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L53gjP-TtGE

One of the combat videos showed that you can direct your squad mates to prime or detonate powers. I guess that's kind of more advanced gameplay or whatever but still, how can you be playing a Bioware game without thinking of squad powers?

You can specialise their skills to be primers or detonators but you don't actually tell them when to use them or what to use them on.

Well, in reality-reality when you're traveling in deep space you've probably gravity swung and are mostly cruising without any steering whatsoever and the only way you could change your direction is decelerate.

It's ME though, so they should have giant boosters on the arks for turn-on-a-dime steering.

Is there an article or interview I missed that directly confirms this?

I'll post the link later when I get home but there's absolutely an official video showing the player directing Cora to charge at an enemy.

I think it was in one of the gameplay videos? Probably the same one you're talking about. Maybe I just misunderstood.

Yeah I don't think you have direct control over their abilities but I know you can direct them at a specific target. And I'm guessing when you tell them to go after something they probably use one of their abilities but I dunno exactly how that works.

Probable - good gameplay, pretty environments, more interesting side quests than ME proper, disappointing / goofy animations

Possibly - stale / boring main story, okay UI and vehicle controls

That's how I'm approaching it.

One of the streams I saw had a person playing it explain that you couldn't change your squadmate's skills at all and that we'd understand why later. Dunno if I missed it or it just didn't get explained but does anyone know what that means?

I’m at a loss. What I expect from BioWare is slightly dodgy combat, but splendid writing and characters. What I’ve seen so far is some decent enough combat (but nothing beyond what you’d expect in a third person shooter), and some of the most dreadful writing. I cannot emphasise enough how poor it’s been.

Do we know if they've improved the controls at all so you aren't forced to use the same button for literally 5 different things? Controls are one of the four big things I think drag down ME3's MP so if they can at least fix that, all my other reservations aside, it will be a big improvement
