I sort of find it hard to talk about anything in the entertainment industry just because of the amount of scummy advertising money being pumped into everything. Was the resistance to Ghostbusters real, or was it just an artifact of signal boosting a bunch of rabblerousers who, when they realized they were being paid attention to, got even more loud and obnoxious? Normally id say it was real, but when you have a entire legion of shitheads in suits who employ literal mind control (marketing and advertising) to trick people into watching their piece of poo poo movies suddenly everything gets a lot more complicated. If you told me that the rabblerousers were being purposefully highlighted in order to create sympathy for the film and the actors in it I wouldnt be suprised. People who work in advertising are liars for pay and will push any narrative that they think will help them.
