Also Yu Gi Oh's rarity scheme is so convoluted and exploitative with rares and super-rares and mega ultra deluxe chromium rares that the head of the company that initially held the American publishing rights had a thing going on the side where he would print out extra copies of the most expensive and rare cards and sell them on the secondary market until Konami stepped in to put a stop to it.

To be specific: The point of "the hole in the center of everything", this feeling of doom that you can't explain, is that it feels exactly the same as the non-magical pressures the characters are under. It's kind of uncanny to the point where it's not entirely clear there was something magical going on at all.

I don't think it's anyone's favorite part of the game (there's a few parts that are clumsy) but it's definitely not game ruining. There's also a very good epilogue! Night in the Woods owns really hard!

But my reaction was more along the lines of (spoilers), "So that feeling of creeping dread wasn't anything related to the town's economical deterioration or the protagonist's lack of direction, real things that mean something to real people, it's because of this space whale, great."

Not a deal-breaker but to my mind it dampened the impact the game was having on me beforehand.

Of course I got the symbolism, the game beats you over the head with it. And I didn't say it ruined the game, I gave it a 7/10. My issue was that the pre-Epilogue ending is written poorly, in my opinion.
