Are there any other dev studios that do achievements as well as Paradox? I thought they were the most retarded thing until I played CK2 and EU4

I thought CK2's weren't great. I finished my Irish -> Britannia run then looked through the list and there's barely any achievements that guide you the way EU4 does. Most of them are the usual "something weird happened" stuff, or character-specific ones. Those are good and all, but I really like using EU4's achievements as suggestions on what to play. There isn't even a Reconquista achievement in CK2.

I get the impression they'd rather everyone just forget the later start dates exist so they can phase them out in the next title.

the only times i've changed the date were:

1) for the easy 1776 war
2) if you set the date to 1806 and then select the 1444 start venice will be in the hre. very useful for austria -> hre

Paradox is the only developer I can think of that makes you disable mods and go ironman to get achievements.

Well, From Software (Dark Souls) too, I guess. But you don't really have a choice there.

Oh god drat it.

First Come, First Serve requires you own every province in the Americas. You can't have any uncolonized provinces. I thought it would be like every other loving achievement and only count colonized ones. I have 40 years left and 121 provinces to go. Wonderful.

The rebels in Corfu don't spawn with enough troops to actually siege the fortress, so it's not unusual to see them parked there for a long time if they're too much of a pain to actually deal with.

The Siege of Candia lasted for 21 years and they basically funneled every merc in Europe through there so death by old age isn't an issue as long as there's money to be had.

Maybe if they didn't inherit your nation's land combat NIs, it doesn't make much sense that mercenaries are identical to your own trained troops, anyway.

I wish mercenaries in this game were more like in CK2: pre-defined armies with their own composition and leaders. And very expensive

True story. I don't like the mass fabrications of claims in general. I once disabled the Conquest CB (this was easier than disabling claim forging, my preferred option) inside the HRE just to see what it would be like, and it was really fun. Kept the sea of minors alive much longer, though the guys that picked Religious eventually carved everything up.

Content pack renders are out and hot drat, if you're interested in the region this is by far the best one, there's so much in it. Not just a ship pack, but special ship models for Korea and Japan. Paradox is really outdoing themselves with the regional flavor for this expansion.

I am ok with that fix, I can't count the number of times I've taken Religious and only grabbed that first idea... used it to expand rapidly then dropped it for something like Admin or even Innovative.
