Release a buggy game that requires a day one patch, performance issues plague online release(s) for 1+ weeks. Make sure gameplay feels repetitive, and cut features/content that should be in.


Does it always apply? Nope. Are indies just as likely to bs you? Sure.

Amazon has acquired RSI because Amazon needs those Star Citizen backers if they hope to be successful over the next decade. Amazon is developing Star Citizen for two reasons--the $1,000 ship prices and the perma-death. The $1,000 buys the backer a spaceship which is really a drone. Star Citizen will be filled with missions--all the jobs will be some variation of "deliver this cargo to this moon base". Amazon is working on turning the FPV view from the drones into shades of grey. Failure to deliver those Prime packages on time or crashing that $1,000 drone results in perma death. Win/Win for everyone!

If only CIG had released Star Citizen when they said they would... None of these games would be getting bad press: COD:IW, NMS, ME:A--everyone is finding flaws in the games. Once we get Star Citizen, we'll truly learn what a bad game is like and have new appreciation for the titles we've been disparaging.

Banu Merchantman, More than a ship

One of the few ships that has managed to captivate our imagination since the first moment it was announced. The Merchantman may be classified as a trading ship but in reality is a lot more than that.This vessel has been the main tool used by the Banu, in their effort to establish their trading empire. Having a trading relationship with all the other races of the universe, even the Vanduul and probably even the Kr'Thak, is a unique accomplishment after all. An accomplishment, impossible to achieve without the proper vessel.

The Merchantman is everything a trader could ever ask for, a fast, sturdy ship with a massive cargohold that will allow you to transfer your goods and make money. But is its subtlety and its mesmerizing appearance that will help the owner of this vessel to achieve his goals. Merchantman owners are not looking for a simple freighter, a simple trading ship to take them from point A to point B, unload their cargo, collect some money, rinse and repeat. Not at all, the Merchantman is a lot more than that, is their home in the stars, their way of living in the vast and beautiful universe of Star Citizen. This ship was meant to take you to the fringe of the universe, far away from the heart of civilization, where you can find unique goods and commodities to bring back or simply continue traveling around remote worlds, collecting their treasures and making a profit.

What really makes the Merchantman unique, is the freedom it gives to the owner, freedom to visit any planet, location they like and even land and set store there. Selling to locals goods from the heart of the UEE, from Terra or Earth or even alien commodities from the Xi'An or the Banu themselves. Making profit and at the same time collecting the unique commodities, artifacts of that world, to sell somewhere else. In a way the Merchantman can be viewed as a traveling bazaar, a reason to celebrate for the locals on these worlds. Again though, it sounds like normal trading, setting store, waiting the residents to buy your goods. The negotiation room of the Merchantman is what makes all the difference.

The most unique room inside a ship we have seen in Star Citizen, the negotiation room is where the owner of the Merchantman meets with his clients in order to negotiate about the price of a commodity. Like the Banu, Merchantman owners value negotiations a lot and bargaining with their clients is the best part of the game. Having an excellent view on the cargohold of the ship, allows to the trader to show the high quality of the goods and make the clients to desire them more. It may be called a negotiation room but in reality is just an elaborate trap to increase your profits.

The Merchantman's main activity may be trading but it has enough firepower and speed to protect itself or even chase down and hurt others. Watching a Merchantman approaching you in space is like watching a smiling predator approaching, when you see its weapons it will be too late. This is mainly because the weapons of this vessel are always concealed and only come out the moment you will need them. This is in order to give emphasis to the trading aspect of the ship, the diplomatic side of the Merchantman. Making others nervous with your weaponry would be bad for profit after all.

Still the speed of the vessel, its weaponry and the fact that it is a sturdy ship that can take a beating make the Merchantman an excellent choice for other players as well. The combination of speed and the massive cargohold could turn it into a nice smuggler, not only hiding small quantities of contraband inside its belly but also a fast blockade runner that will defy authorities and deliver illegal goods to a certain planet, location.

Banu love profit, as well as every other owner of the Merchantman. So if slaves sell well around your area, you can modify the cargo hold to carry some or many and become rich overnight. With the right group and assistance, the Merchantman could be a terrifying pirate ship. With enough speed to chase targets down, firepower to disable or threaten them and a cargohold to store the loot until you reach the nearest black market, the Merchantman seems to be perfect for this illegal activity.

Overall, the Merchantman is a fascinating ship and although it is described as a trading vessel, it can perform many other activities and allow you to live your dream life in the Verse. Thanks to its unique characteristics and upgrading options, the Merchantman is something more than a ship. It is your home in the stars, a way of life.
