This reeks of the right's claim that Obama was divisive and caused all the partisanship when the rift was caused entirely by republicans. They pledged to create a rift and then stood at the other side blaming the black guy for the division. One party is refusing to work with the other to propose anything sensible. They can't even propose anything their own party feels is passable.

Right now, the right is being openly evil and the only effective counter anyone on the left seems to have is pointing at them and saying they are evil.

You're right, but at this point it's not about that. It's about gathering support at the grassroots level. Instead we've got DNC leadership refusing to rule out ANOTHER Clinton run. They didn't learn a goddamned thing from this election and it's going to keep biting us in the rear end until they do.

The Democrats appear to have decided to just wait it out. If things get bad enough, those swing voters will come back. That's not a goddamned strategy, and it's why they're going to keep losing until they start getting active and finding their own charismatic leaders that aren't absurdly un-electable like Bernie.

They didn't get a majority in the house for another four years, the majority in the senate for another 8 and the presidency for ten. The republicans didn't have some fail proof plan that they initiated ten years ago that got them to this point.

They mostly bumblefucked their way into their current position. with some help from gerrymandering, being the party not in the white house for eight years (which traditionally leads to the opposing party making massive gains in congress), and the lackluster presidential campaign from the DNC last year.

The first thing Americans will need to realize is that the Democratic Party is not left wing, and hasn't been for nearly 30 years. They've been "Republican-Lite" since at least the 1990s. You know, that party the middle-class suburbanites could vote for while also feeling good about "grudgingly" supporting minorities. Up until the last few years has anything in their platform been truly left-wing. If you want to see what a left wing party is actually like, take a look at what other countries have.

This is what I mean when I say the left has no real power. Because they don't. They have a small presence in the Democratic party, and 0 everywhere else. Of course, the Democratic party SHOULD turn left because leftist ideals like Universal Healthcare, Minimum Wage, Environment Protection, ect are popular. Its just Democrats never run on those issues because at their core most Democrats are Republican-lite. I thought the party would learn their lesson after losing to Donald loving Trump but maybe when they are completely wiped out in 2018 will things change. Maybe. Hopefully at the state level first.

I can agree to this but there's a bigger picture here that's more than just the US. Like I said earlier, there is a disturbing slide to the right across the entire Western world that's being ignored almost wholesale by leftists everywhere. Something is going on at a deeper level and right now Democrats and other leftists need to stop telling people what they already know and do something about it.

Pretending that this is business as usual and "we'll get 'em in 8 years!" is going to lead us straight into direct authoritarianism. There needs to be some compromise because as people become ever more divided those swing voters everyone loves are going to become less and less viable. Obviously the right offers something to Western people everywhere and it's at a deeper level than just racism.

At least where I live, this is not right. I'm a precinct chair for my area and have been to multiple executive meetings and precinct meetings. There is massive discussion at grassroots levels how we're going to get more people involved with voting and a bevy of issues that people are presenting to their representatives.

It is the responsibility of voters to elect candidates who are qualified for the office they seek and who have the interests of the country in mind. This is true. It is also 100% irrelevant to actually winning elections, because most people, at a very basic level, aren't rational actors.

Gilbo says investigators are still trying to determine why his body was moved.

Two people considered to be caregivers of Brooks have been detained on suspicion of abuse of a corpse.

Brooks served in the military and was a gunner in a B-17 bomber's ball turret.

This is a good post, and change needs to happen at the local level first and it can then work its way to the top. Look up what the local Democratic party in your area is doing, I'm talking really local like State and County level. I know mine does monthly happy hours. It's not much, but it is a start. Failing that, getting involved with practical groups like Sierra Club or the DSA can help push politicians left or help promote your pet cause/issue. Avoid groups like the Green Party, they are a waste of time, energy, and money. There was a thread in D&D that was about getting involved and had really good resources. Of course, being D&D it delved into ideological purity battles between avid communists, but the first few pages are a really good resource last I checked.
