i remember everyone is like "the first gundam series is really fun pop sci-fi & has stuff others dont have like big space habitats and stuff" and i was like "oh hey cool" and it definitely was that but to get to the good sci fi stuff you have to sit through a really uncomfortable number of teenage panty shots and i didn't make it very far before calling it quits

Here's my logic on that sort of thinking: When a franchise goes on too long and has become too diluted and devalued due to bad sequels, DTV sequels, themes that are no longer relevant or popular, films that didn't age well, low-budget sequels, etc., then rebooting is the only way to get more of something. I like Highlander, I like the Highlander TV series. We can't keep the Highlander franchise going as it was 15-30 years later. If you want more Highlander after a series of unpopular movies, aging stars and DTV releases and cancelled video games, you need to drop some of that baggage that's weighing the franchise down after all these years. A clean slate and a fresh start can do that.
