what im saying is it wasn't a tough beginning because of the severe culture clash its been a tough 400 years for the aboriginals because white australians are racist as poo poo and treat them like crap. Humans all around the globe aren't benefiting from colonialism, they're benefiting from technology and modernity. Those things aren't a product of colonialism and you don't have to be a colony or ex-colony to get them. This isn't Civ, when people invent things you don't have to trade 1000 golds and 2 coastal cities to acquire the secrets of Pottery or Democracy. (OTOH the very worst thing that generally gets put in the "colonialism = bad" bucket is the spread of diseases that killed millions, but that was gonna happen no matter what. The peoples of the Americas were gonna get hosed by smallpox, the only way that could have been prevented was for America to somehow remain undiscovered all the way up until semi-modern medicine. Not likely.)
