I don't know if it applies to 720P too, but either way, the 1080P releases are all upscales anyway so it's not worth watching them.

I'm liking the change the anime made. It's just a shame it skipped the real consequences of Aqua's Purification. She made the spring extra holy with it being blessed by a literal goddess and all, which gave the city even more revenue and influence by selling the water. The church priesthood are fully aware of Aqua identity due to this and decided to "covertly" help her by building a branch in Axel

If they ever do S3 they'll open with that. They can't let these idiots end the season in a triumphant note after all. :v:

I very much doubt there'll be a next season. The next episode preview thing after the last credits is literally the classic "our battle is just beginning" line people always use at the end. :rip:

With raw files this is true, cut sure to the way streaming and bitrates work out, it's worth watching in 1080

What? Is there a manga companion of the main story that I don't know about?

Once My Love Story completes in a couple of months, I wouldn't mind starting a new series collection.

Yes, there is a manga companion to the main story.

As both the light novel and the manga are coming out in English, I suppose this will have to do:

LN:
https://www.amazon.com/Konosuba-Blessing-Wonderful-Useless-Goddess/dp/0316553379/
https://www.amazon.com/Konosuba-Blessing-Wonderful-Witches-Delusions/dp/0316468703/ (preorder)
https://www.amazon.com/Konosuba-Blessing-Wonderful-Summoned-Darkness/dp/0316468738/ (preorder)

Manga:
https://www.amazon.com/Konosuba-Blessing-Wonderful-World-manga/dp/0316552569/
https://www.amazon.com/Konosuba-Blessing-Wonderful-World-manga/dp/0316553328/
https://www.amazon.com/Konosuba-Blessing-Wonderful-World-manga/dp/0316469335/ (preorder)
https://www.amazon.com/Konosuba-Blessing-Wonderful-World-manga/dp/0316559547/ (preorder)

I'm sad with how slowly the LNs are coming out. There are 10 fan translated volumes floating around the Internet right now and everybody knows how, uh, amateurish those always are.

I don't know if that is a play on the name of the unofficial translations or a serious question, so I'll guess the later.

I would say yes since I often find light novel translations have various odd forms of grammar and sentence structure. Stuff that might make you have to read a line a few times to work through it.

That being said, I think the KonoSuba fan translation is one of the better ones in terms of readability.

I generally have the same problems with fan translations. I think it's because they probably just directly and literally translate the text with no editing or reordering of sentences or anything because that's too difficult and time consuming for something they're probably just doing in their spare time. That's also probably the reason that the very few really good fan LN translations get dropped after like 2 chapters because the guy doing it went insane.

smenj
Oct 10, 2012
Well, there's also the problem that I think several of the better groups/people doing these translations will only do them while the series is unlicensed. Once a series has been picked up for release they'll stop translating any new ones and remove the parts they had up. I don't really read many LNs so it's not really happened to me much, but there's been once or twice where a group's been, say, eight volumes into a series when it gets picked up for an official release in English. Then all that was there gets removed, and the official release comes out at a rate of like two volumes a year, so it'd take forever to get back where you were at.

The Konosuba official english translation, much like the Re:Zero one, is also really good. Yen Press really has stepped up their game since the terrible first few translations of No Game No Life. (It got better too but it sucked from the start).

I noticed that VERTICAL actually revised the translation of NISIOISIN's first Zaregoto book, and I wonder if anybody knew how. This is one of those things that don't get a lot of attention.

It was a dumb play on the state of the unofficial translations and that one site that has all of the fan translations and claims they're fanfics.

The source prose is really dry, there's no avoiding that (and I think the translator memes were a boon there). But every volume Yen Press mistranslates something, and it's always juuust important/prominent enough to annoy me instead of just turning the page.

I have to wonder how much of the way light novels read is due to actual "dry" prose and how much is just Japanese allowing for huge clause-filled sentences that can't be rendered in English without sounding stilted or completely rewriting each paragraph.

That analogy still holds true even if diamonds have had thier value inflated. Theyre still valuable objects that would be shocking to find among non valuable objects.
