Alaois posted:it was very clearly a joke you massive clod *pushes up glasses* The joke was that people would not intervene just because he would say the purse has stolen poo poo in it, without questioning it. It doesn't really work imo, because in the video everyone is talking about there are several other employees who presumably know the dude because he works there. The joker just comes across as an edgelord playing the sheeple card.

poop dood posted:Hey, maybe your reflex would be to post up, arms folded, near the confrontation-in-progress and scold both parties for not being polite enough, like that awful old woman facing the camera in the video. Her chiding the man to "be a gentleman!" was so loving stupid. Why would that be what anyone would do in that scenario? What in you calls you to loving referee this poo poo? The only point I intended to make was: "This situation could be mistaken for a purse-snatching, or at least that would be my first impression. Has anyone ever heard of a bystander making that same mistake and getting involved?" Apparently I completely failed to convey that and came across as some kind of white-knight tough guy. I apologize. So, yeah. Free schadenfreude for the thread, my treat.

Solar roads enrage me. It's like someone thought "where's the worst place we could install solar panels? How about flat on the ground so they can't be angled correctly. Also let's put them where multi-ton vehicles drive over them and they'll get filthy". It's the worst feel-good greenwashing poo poo that probably got a standing ovation at a ted talk.

Are they going to be used to power the street lights and what not? Or are they so efficient they will take the place of power plants?

Like, just in theory at least, wouldn't it be better to find some way to generate electricity off of the vehicles driving on the road rather than solar panels? Like those lovely flashlights you have to squeeze to light up. Because based on my limited experience with solar panels, they get really loving hot and blocking the sun with vehicles doesn't sound like a grand idea. This is very satisfying to watch though.

The energy would come at the expense of worse fuel economy on the vehicles as the road essentially steals their energy.

That sounds like it's about to segue into how green energy is stealing the energy to resurrect some great evil. : You steal men's souls and make them your slaves! : Perhaps the same could be said of all energy sources.
