Yeah we get them in St.Pete for the grand prix, just saw them last week. One of the jumps was right in front of us and a truck went over it sideways and started barrel rolling down the track. A forklift came out and turned him over and he started it up and kept going. The series was started by Robby Gordon and is sponsored by his SPEED energy drink, which is really loving good I might add.

I want to so bad, but they never come anywhere close. 3 wheel drifts skimming the walls, occasional jumps on top of each other, it always looks like such a good time.

I've seen them at Long Beach. Robby himself, after the race, tried to do most of a lap on two wheels. He made it most of the way and only had to give up at the hairpin at the last turn.

Wait, St Pete in Florida? This is a long shot, but have you seen a lovely green VW bus rolling around down there?

Friends, gather 'round. Let me tell you a bit about the Opel (or Vauxhall if you're in the UK) Corsa. Specifically, the 2000 - 2006 Corsa B. Here's a boring base-spec model. Steel rims and all. These were available with a bunch of engine options, depending on market. From a 1-litre 3-pot with 55hp, to a 1.8-litre 4-pot with 110hp. If you got a "big" engine it probably also had hubcaps or nicer wheels. Like this one. Aimed at younger types, the car was inevitably modified to look a bit spicier... ... or – more likely – ricier. Pretty standard fare for a budget Euro supermini. Except in the wild, faraway land of South Africa. Where some crazy redneck made this. Nothing new in the bumper and exhaust area... Or the gaudy "race orange" interior... Except uh -- what the gently caress?! Yeah. A mid-mounted Lexus UZ-series V8 (from this ad: https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars-bakkies/witbank/opel-corsa-hatchback-v8/1001930089370911140942709)

Sorry for this repost, I jumped 300 pages ahead. I remember reading a bunch of facts about Top fuel dragster. Like comparisons to the power output of the first 4 rows of an F1 grid, and the fact they have totally destroyed their sparks plugs halfway through the 1/4 mile and are actually dieseling the rest of the way https://youtu.be/w1DHXazF6D4 That g Meter and fuel guage.... Apparently they use a quarter of their fuel in staging and burnout. I don't get passionate about drags but gently caress me do I respect it

They are built to the absolute extremes for just one purpose - get 1000' away from a standing start as soon as possible. They aren't versatile, they aren't adaptable, they just do one thing and do it well. The only other truly singularly dedicated type of car outside of drag racing is absolute LSR racing, like Bloodhound SSC. Every other type of motorsport has to be flexible enough to handle tracks of different sizes, configurations, and even paved versus dirt.
