pdfs are really good my favourite thing about pdfs is you can send stuff to other people who are not computer touchers to read and they will just read it. unlike a word doc or any other trash format, which they will inevitably gently caress up and ruin the whole file in some novel way.

we have a lab/manufacturing division and we were looking at using all kinds of integrations/barcodes to make the awful old machinery talk to each other but instead we just mounted cameras over the displays now we use text recognition software to "read" the displays and pipe the info to the next machine or a db
