I havent been paying attention lately so i found this Marshall Pruett podcast recap to be a nice catch up. It features Will Buxton, which i think this thread despises, but it's pretty ok imo. i enjoyed his exasperation about Mclaren.

Not sure on the year, but it's an instructor car for the Mario Andretti Racing School.

E: They advertise full size Indy cars at the school so perhaps a modified 97 IRL car

I listened to it last night and I am glad to still have Danny and Drew together despite their employment changes :3:

The podcast will likely get better due to the career changes they both made.

Out of shape because of his accident in ROC?

That's the reason everyone's giving.

I'm going to say that all F1 engines do something like that on a downshift, where they cut fuel to some cylinders to conserve when it's not needed. McLaren is rougher than others, but it's not something that's unusual. The Williams in Barcelona was farting around the track really badly the first week, but they tuned it to be a bit smoother by week 2.

Actually I think a Honda engineer would say that they're working on 14 independent unrelated projects all of which are likely to solve that problem real soon.

I think it might be related to anti-lag. Peter Windsor mentioned something about cylinder shutdown for drive-ability.
