I honestly don't get that, even if you think it's a fitting end to Madoka and Homura's relationship (which I don't) the fact the Homura's happy dream bubble universe is ready to implode the second Madoka thinks about to too hard means the whole thing is unstable. That's not forgetting that the writer and director have literally said that they ended it that way to leave it open for a sequel.

I just feel it's far more interesting left open ended the way it is. It establishes what is essentially an angels vs. demons, "good" vs. "evil" dynamic with our characters that I'd rather speculate about what might happen in the future (if anything at all), and if anything knowing rather than speculating would potentially diminish it. Unless a potential Rebellion follow up is as weird and interesting and ballsy in comparison to that movie as Rebellion itself was to the TV ending.

Ah, okay, I guess my problem is with what people consider a 'definitive' ending then since I'd never use it to describe any open ending, even one I liked, which in general I do Rebellion's.

I like -monogatari more than Madoka, so I'm happy that they're making a second season of Owarimonogatari instead of a fourth Madoka movie.

Rebellion is extremely good and I love it as much as the TV ending, if not moreso. I have mixed feelings about more Madoka being made. On one hand, I really like the odd unresolved ending as it is, and it feels unlikely that they can make lightning strike a third time after knocking it out of the park with the TV series and Rebellion. It's perfect right now, so adding more to it is a huge gamble. But on the other hand, part of me wants to trust them unconditionally, because with Rebellion they already once managed to develop a worthwhile continuation of what was "already complete", by pulling on the original series' one major loose thread. But for now: heck yes more Monogatari! It's about time.

either way, considering how much shaft is still pimping madoka at every oppurtunity, I really doubt they're the ones that are a barrier to more Madoka. Urobuchi has lots of other plates in the air right now so it's easy to imagine he doesn't have time to write more madoka or doesn't have much interest in it at the moment.

Rebellion is crazy amounts of pure awesome and has a lot of catharsis to it, I don't think it's an entirely definitive ending because clearly something is bound to happen afterwards, but it's neat to imagine Madoka waking up and forced to do battle with her best friend that has embraced darkness and maybe there's a series or a movie that can flesh that out. I'm not in a hurry though and more Monogatari is always welcome; apparently there's a inbetweener mobile game for Madoka that takes place before Rebellion.
