Just push future bad ideas embrace new ones and healthcare will be cheaper guys. Why didn't we think of that earlier?

Hillary and Biden are both bad, before the election I would have said Biden was worse, but the only redeeming factor of neoliberalism was the perception that it was Very Competent At Denying Republicans The Presidency. If Hillary can't accomplish that then she's a pretty bad Neoliberal, which is extra bad and outpaces Biden's badness

I think that is at the heart of what turned me from a lukewarm "Democrats okay, I'd like to have European liberalism here but what can you do?" to "gently caress the Democrats, full socialism NOW!", that as disappointing as they felt, they at least kept the randroids and god-bots off the levers of power.

If they cannot do even that, then what is the point of supporting Third Way politics?

you guys see this?

http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/detroit/2017/03/24/frozen-detroit-trucker-neil-gorsuch/99590588/

quote:

Maddin had sued under a law known as the Surface Transportation Assistance Act, which prohibits companies from firing a driver who "refuses to operate" an unsafe truck.

Gorsuch concluded that the law didn't apply to Maddin because — he reasoned — he didn't refuse to operate the truck, but rather drove off in it.

"A trucker was stranded on the side of the road, late at night, in cold weather, and his trailer brakes were stuck," Gorsuch wrote in his dissent. "He called his company for help and someone there gave him two options. He could drag the trailer carrying the company's goods to its destination (an illegal and maybe sarcastically offered option). Or he could sit and wait for help to arrive (a legal if unpleasant option). The trucker chose None of the Above, deciding instead to unhook the trailer and drive his truck to a gas station. In response, his employer, TransAm, fired him for disobeying orders and abandoning its trailer and goods."

BOOP

The 2016 election was an Emperor has no clothes moment for the Third Way types and I don't see how they can unbreak that spell. The image that they are Reasonable Pragmatists and the Smartest People in the Room that could Win Elections has been replaced with the reality they are a bunch if idiot beltway fucks with their junk hanging out that jerk off to algorithms that can't do math and are completely unable manage even the basics of a political campaign.

I don't think people that were voting Democrat because, even if they were garbage, they were less bad then the Republicans but we thought they could win elections are coming back. In the last elections, something like 90 thousand people in Michigan left the top of the ticket blank and those are the people that slogged out to the polls. That's only going to get worse unless the Democrats change. Down in GA, I stood in line for over an hour to vote for a candidate that I hated, knew never represented me and never would, and would actively fought to be held to the Democratic platform promises every second she was office and I feel like a loving idiot for doing so and encouraging the people around me to do the same. I'm not doing this again if they run Cory Booker or some other skin suit filled with donor cash on a platform of TORMP BAD and RUSSIA.

Frankly I'm having a hard time getting pissed off about Trump because of how poo poo the Democrats are. I'm supposed to get mad about Trump dropping bombs on people because he's a Brutal Savage and support the Democrats bombing the same people because they are Enlightened Pragmatists? I'm supposed to get mad at Trump on DAPL or Net Neutrality when the Obama administration had to be protested and shamed into slow walking it? Why should I get mad about an oil executive being directly part of Trump's cabinet instead of their pet gently caress boy? Democrats anger toward Trump isn't that he is loving people but that he is fat moron oaf who refuses to use the hole in the sheet like a Enlightened, Respectable Statesmen. gently caress them.

Anyway, I'll take a six piece with sides of red beans and rice. Yeah for both sides.

Yup, this is me. I held my nose and voted for a person who is the antithesis to essentially everything I believe in, and tried to convince other people I'm close to to do the same, for no other reason than opposition to the Republican party. It was for nothing, and I'm not lowering myself to doing it again.
