I never really thought about this, but I would be 100% okay if this turned out to be true. This would mean that if we did get contact from the Milky Way, then it would be from a new species finding one of our quantam entaglement devices. All of the spacefaring races would have been destroyed by the reapers, and the new race that finds our communications equipment would presumably not be aware of the reapers existence. Likewise, everyone in Andromeda left before knowing the reapers were real so we can't warn them.

As far as lore goes that means Bioware still get to ignore the reapers existence and anything related to them and get an excuse to come up with a whole new set of races to inhabit the Milky Way. The stories could just continue on from there in any direction they want in either galaxy. Really would just give them a poo poo load of writing opportunities. I mean the next reaper cycle wouldn't be for about 49,000 more years, and the 600 years we spent in cryo is more than enough time for new races to find the citadel which is where I'm assuming the other end of our magic quantum gmail terminal is.

Nah, the Reapers don't stick to a 50,000 year cycle as a rule, they just leave behind a ship (probably the annoying one) to notify the main fleet/open the Citadel relay when the native Milky Way species start getting a little too froggy. Usually that takes ~50k years after the reapers are done reaping all space faring species/species capable of space flight, but if a particularly troublesome race appeared they'd come around sooner than that. Nobody would find the QEC on the Citadel because the Keepers would remove it pretty soon after the harvest.

The game is fun enough to play but has enough annoyances, like the lack of a quick save or save during priority missions, that if you aren't invested enough you'll wait for the next update.

Well I guess what I'm really trying to say is I'm totally okay with everyone in the Milky Way being dead and us finding that out somehow. Also it would be a lot of fun to play a mass effect where you just go full manifest destiny on this new galaxy as humans befriending or attacking new species as you met them.

Well the lone ship left behind is just a failsafe, what's meant to happen is that the Citadel activates automatically and the Reapers pour through, which iirc is automatic around 50k years.

It always kinda bothered me that the names for the two reaper antagonists in Mass Effect should have been switched around. Harbinger should have been the name for the dude who activates the Citadel and calls forth all the other reapers. Sovereign for the autonomous big bad guy bossing the Collectors around.

Nah, it ain't automatic. The ship left behind has to get the Citadel to open the relay to dark space some way or another. Per wiki:

quote:

However, once an organic species has settled on the Citadel and reached the required level of technological advancement, the Reapers' current vanguard, a single Reaper left behind to monitor the situation, sends a signal to the Citadel, which in turn signals the keepers, compelling them to activate the Citadel relay to dark space, and begin the process of genocide. The Protheans succeeded in altering the Citadel's signal so that the keepers ignored it, though too late to save the Protheans themselves from extinction at the hands of the Reapers.

this. its fine game and definitely mass effect though plot is kinda eh, it will grow on me but i don't think i will ever have massive amounts of nostalgia for it.

id be pissed, yeah it helps them with the lore with this game, but it feels like petty gently caress you to the angry fans. i prefer the destroy ending with Sheppard living but thats just me. my guess is that so much poo poo happend(reapers, plus six hundred years or so) that people just forgot about the initiative.

Wouldn't it open and be activated by the spacefaring races and THEN call the reapers through? Not be just an auto call?

I've been experiencing frequent freezes during the transitional cutscenes when you land on or depart from a planet. I'm playing on PC. It's done this from launch, but it seems to be getting more and more frequent as I get further into the story.

That doesn't seem quite right? I think the Remnant tech started malfunctioning only recently, but it was present in early angara history. Some of them lived in monoliths and vaults luke cave people, which is actually a cool detail.

As a solo experience though, it definitely doesn't live up to the original series. It's not a terrible start, they just need to focus on what they want and excel at it, really. So far, ME:A feels like a mix of both small-scale MMO and single player romp.

I posted the same thing like 100 pages ago when I first got the game. Yeah, it's really chill and looks good, and the way it dynamically tracks your route is neat, it's fun to pick out what order to check the planets to result in the most interesting flight path.

You have to do it so rarely (only once per system and there are way less systems than in previous games) and you do get decent XP and sometimes rare minerals or whatever, plus I like hearing Suvi's unique dialogue for every little thing, Scottish accents are cool (was gonna go see Trainspotting 2 today but I'm still sick so MEAMP here I come)

Speaking of Suvi though, remember the leaked scene that everyone hated? I finally got to it last night. It's really strange because my Ryder had already flirted with Suvi like 3 times before that scene in ways that weren't nearly so awkward. I think that scene is one of the ones they missed in QA because it just doesn't fit with when it happens.

Also if it's not just a result of Too Many Writers, I'm assuming Suvi and Ashley believing in God is seen as "unique" because Earth is a fascist military state run by an AI of Richard Dawkins, nobody ever calls out the Asari on their Goddess bullshit
